People never give anyone enough time in football anymore. With the players Chelsea have there’s no reason why they can’t be title challengers next season, but it takes time for the manager to get them playing to their strengths and bringing that together as a team.

All they need to do is give Pochettino time to mould his squad and accept a few bad results while the whole squad is gelling. But of course one defeat seems to be called a disaster by the media these days and the likes of Sky start shit-stirring. The question is, after spending close to £1bn does Todd Boehly have the patience and understanding to give the manager time?

Next season? There were quite a few on here who had them down as title challengers THIS season. Which was laughable.

There's truth in that, especially when Postecoglou is new to the league and Pochettino is not. That said, the latter is working with more new players, many of them younger, and that will have its own headaches.
Isn’t working with youngsters supposed to be Poch’s strength?

It'd be easier to instil a new philosophy in younger players than with older ones, wouldn’t it?

Whatever the malaise is at Chelsea, it doesn’t seem to be coming from the manager. They’ve tried 4 since the start of last season.

Without Carney and Nkunku, Palmer and Enzo are the only players who can create through the middle. I don’t understand why he didn’t starting over Gallagher. Poch is forcing Enzo into basically playing off the striker when his best role is a big deeper. Drop Gallagher, move Enzo back and play Palmer in the 10.

1-2 years ago Gallagher wasn’t nearly good enough for Chelsea. Since then he’s stagnated you’ve spent a billion & he starts & was leading them out as Skipper the last game I saw……

Make it make sense?

Everything is pointless if we can’t finish easy chances like this. Palmer once again comes on and looks like the most creative player on the pitch. He should be starting. We haven’t scored a goal for 3 games now. Nothing else matters, if we can’t score.

Wait until you see Doku bud!

It is, but he needs time. I always thought his teams in England also needed lungs and plenty of running, which isn’t to every player’s taste. I don’t really see them challenging us, but it was good of them to take two points of Liverpool, and it would be helpful if they were strong enough to challenge Arsenal and Spurs after the next international break.

Out of all the clubs that have played PL football in 2023, they’re 5th from bottom, ahead of only Everton on goal difference to remain outside of the relegated and promoted clubs.

Competition.
Name all the chairmen in English football who have selected transfer targets successfully.

Brighton's recruitment is pretty good, to be fair. How much input Tony Bloom has is open to debate, mind. A fella called Sam Jewell is the head of recruitment there, taking over after Paul Winstanley left to go to Chelsea.
