I see loads of praise for Foden. He is widely considered exactly the way you described him. Stones as well, not long ago was getting loads of credit and considered one of the top CBs in the league. He’s been injured a while though, no? Diaz is also widely considered one the best CBs in the league. Rodri gets praised every week nearly and is rightly considered the best DM in the world. And that’s before we get to Haaland who is universally considered one of the best players in the world who will probably go down as an all time great in the game
Not sure what they have to do with upcoming players. Our team have won stuff so will get that coverage. But its so obvious that all City fans just accept it now. We're not even that arsed on the whole, it comes with the territory. I guess you guys suffered the same shit from the MSM when you upset the apple cart?

I'm not gonna lie, I used to think we got an unfair shake with the media. I used to think we got disproportionately negative coverage compared to other top teams and I used to think our players didn't get the same credit they deserved as their counterparts at other clubs.

But a strange thing happened. I entered the work force and started moving up and down the country for work and what I found was fans of other clubs thought the same about their clubs as I did about Chelsea, and I remember having a eureka moment one day many years ago when I was sat with 3 mates (United fan, Arsenal fan, Tottenham fan and me) and we were arguing over which one of our clubs had a real media agenda against us. That's when I realised that we were all guilty of of the same thing - consuming news about our own clubs the most, which is natural, but it has a side effect, we get a warped perspective on how we're treated compared to other clubs.

I keep expecting something to change and they'll start piecing results together. Turns out they're actually just really shite.

As in, they are actually mid-table. Not in a "haha they've lost the first few games of the season and now they're 15th" kind of way. Actually mid-table.

Is this the most sustained fall from grace of a title contender since circa 2002 Leeds?

For two consecutive years, now.

They aren't having a bad season, they're just bad.

I disagree. I think Chelsea got pretty poor coverage when they were dominating and were never lauded like United, Arsenal, and LFC. They were never fully respected by the English media, perhaps because of xenophobia towards your owner, or jealousy about your money. City got even worse treatment than Chelsea. We became the new whipping boys. In London the coverage of Arsenal is sycophantic compared to Spurs (who are mocked most of the time) and West Ham. I don't believe the English football media is impartial in any way. These days City get positive coverage across the world, especially in the USA, but not in this country.
