He’s a slightly above average midfielder. He’s not your biggest problem, but he’s not your solution either.

That, in itself, is problematic as he is too expensive an asset to move on should you find someone better.

I disagree with that entirely. He’s a brilliant midfielder and he’ll be one the best PL midfielders for years and years to come. We don’t need to move him. He will be the centrepiece to the next great Chelsea team.

We shall see. Even pundits have given up trying to give him flowers.

who are their saleable assets, palmer, gallager, nkunku, fernandes and caicedo theyd lose 50m each on easy

@projectriver made a good point on Talksport the other day. The whole world knows the situation they are in now. Other clubs can just hold out for lower prices until near the end of June, or, if they really don't like Chelsea, make them wait until July and really fuck them over. God knows what United and Arsenal were doing giving them 120 million for Mount and Havertz . ...

Well I don't need pundits building narratives around him to know what I'm seeing. For example, pundits praise Thiago Silva endlessly but I actually think he's one of the bigger problems in the team.

People said this last summer but in the end clubs are more interested in helping themselves than this alternate reality where they're supposed to care so much about sticking it to Chelsea. Why would Arsenal and United have Havertz and Mount miss half of their preseason preparations?

If Wolves really want Broja, for example, then they're gonna pay the money to get him in early because that would be good for their own preparations.

You’ve spent a billion quid and probably have one star in Nkunku, who can’t stay fit, and a couple of potential stars in Palmer and Jackson.

The rest would be fillers in top teams’ squads, imho.

Clubs will have seen how Havertz and Mount have integrated in their new squads and done nothing.

They'll also note that Chelsea now need to sell a couple of players each summer to pay for what they already have, coupled with the knowledge that PSR breaches mean points‘ deductions.

Next summer might be harder to sell players for top dollar given the above.

We have a couple of potential stars but yes, Chelsea went down the route of investing in potential. Incredibly risky but that is the path they chose. I don't think they bought a single ready made star aside from Nkunku. Probably 95% of the signings have been 22 years old or younger. Sterling and Koulibaly were supposed to be the experienced star signings but both of them have been flops imo.
