The fact that they have played well in the past doesn't guarantee they'll play well moving forward. Clichy obviously got skinned for the goal, and a few other times in the match. he's been brutal when he's played this season, and I really have LOVED Clichy to this point. Zabaleta has also been very far off his prior season's form. Not making as many big glaring errors like Gael, but not contributing nearly as much, either. Our system still creates a lot of space for the fullbacks, but thus far they haven't been up for the challenge
Clichy has been poor this season. The others haven't been "utter shite" at all.
theres a good reason why lescott isnt playing . zabaleta is overrated, he is average at best. clichy was okay in previous seasons but now he is no different to kolarov. it is way too easy for the opposition to put pressure on the team and push them back into their own half. this problem has been ongoing for a long time now. it has nothing to do with pellegrini but more with certain players in defence and midfield.
