Chelsea. What's gone wrong for them?

It reminds me of Ancelotti's time at Milan.

They were sensational under him for a while, but even accounting for the points deduction, they went from being top dogs in that league to fifth best, in the blink of an eye.

Drogba, Lampard, Terry, Cech and Essien have all lost their edge, their week in week out ability to overwhelm opponents.

Age is a huge factor but I'm positive it's a terminal loss of confidence and drive. I called it in the Bolton game, despite winning, they were obviously a shadow of their former selves, there was simply no reaction to what had gone on before.

Once the belief is gone, you have to win it back all over again, match by match, against opponents who can smell blood, and everyone just loves the idea of kicking the champions whilst they are down.

Just like Milan, they will probably continue to do very well in the Champs League.

Alot of it imo has come since the injury to Alex he made them tick much more than they knew, also without Alex Ivanovic moves to the centre and Ferriera goes rb= disaster

Star players getting older
Wilkins being sacked
Injuries to key players
Roman not splashing the cash
Squad not strong/big enough

Take your pick

Plus never introduced youngsters through all the winning years

Can't disagree with you, but what happened to your lot tonight?. Beckham in midfield would have been total disaster.

just got beat by a team that wanted it more, we lacked the bit in midfield that Wilson Palacios brings, we dont have a striker that can score and are over relaint on the 3 stars to create. Everton wanted it more I'd say the players were burned out after the previous wins

The season Jose left was the season they needed to invest into the future. They didn't, mainly because they had interim managers like Avram Grant and Hiddink so it was right not to go blowing money when they aren't going to be there long.

no it enough cover for players if ivanovic gets injured or sent off which isn't rare for defenders have to put a defender with little experience or put ferera CB. Should have replaced all the players they let go.
