Childhood Bullies

First couple of days at Secondary School a much bigger lad was giving me a bit of shit, I told my Dad who said "The bigger they are the harder they fall". Next day as I saw him coming over I prepared myself to make the next 5 years trouble free by whacking him before he said a word - that one moment probably changed the course of our lives, as I never got bullied off anyone and got respect, and to my knowledge he never bullied again.

My youngest Brother is 16 years younger than me and when he was born he had a brown Birthmark that covers about 30% of the right side of his body (not face luckily) and was also unlucky enough to pull a cup of tea off the windowsill which resulted in scarring on his left arm and chest. Growing up I told him if anyone asked, make a joke of it and say it's just tea and coffee stains. He moved to York with his Mum and started a new School at which point he started getting bullied because of his "stains", accent and being a Blue. He asked me to go to York to help him but at 29 I was a bit to old to be twatting 13 year old kids lol. I just told him that next time it happened drop whoever it was - he did and never looked back.

Now this one shows how it can affect someone who was bullied nearly 30 years ago.
At Primary School we had a kid who was a bit of a nerd, glasses, snotty nose but as clever as fuck. He had a really hard time and was bullied like fuck by another lad whose initials are PD. Anyway this lad passed his 11 plus with flying colours and ended up at North Cestrian Grammar and then on to University with god knows how many qualifications. This lad is now 38 and is a well respected author who has had 15 Science Fiction booked published and makes a good living from it. The upside for him is that in every book there is always a character who becomes a victim and is mutilated and tortured - his name is always a variation of the initials PD. Now that's a grudge !!

Liking that!

Here's one for you -

On our very first day at high school about 200 kids were packed into the main hall. One lad was quietly picking his nose near the front and the head of year (an absolute **** of a man) said out loud 'Stop picking your nose (named the lad) Haven't you had your breakfast this morning?'

Everyone pissed themselves laughing and for the next five years this kid was referred to only as 'Bogie'.

He was bullied by all and instantly ostracised. People said he stunk of piss and avoided him. Kids are little arseholes.

Years later I was in a club when this lad approached me.

My first thought was how much he looked like a young Charlie Sheen - he was a good-looking lad and under other circumstances he could probably clean up with women.
Then I realised it was Bogie.
He told me myself and others had made his life hell during school and that he'd considered suicide on several occasions. He said all his life he's suffered from depression and couldnt make a go of things.
He couldnt make eye contact with me and, even just standing there holding a beer, he was visibly crippled with insecurities.

I felt like the biggest wanker on the planet. I bought him a beer but the damage was done.

Like I say, kids are arseholes.

Hitting back is a good option if, and it is a big if, you are that way inclined.

I was bullied and my dad always told me to hit them back. If I had done life would have been different.

I don't like violence and never did as a kid. I was always one of the tallest in the class and when I did fight I normally hurt somebody.

BUT, I hated fighting.

Not only did I then have the problem of being bullied, I had the shame of not living up to my dads expectations if i did not fightback and the guilt of hurting somebody if I did.

Nice Read :)

It is indeed an interesting thread.

There are a couple more points I would like to make.

Bullying is a character disorder that continues into adulthood when physical assault as a response becomes unacceptable.

Most organisations have some and they can make their victims' lives a complete misery.

I'm on a course of CBT that has given me defence mechanisms.

To anyone who is a victim you must get professional help QUICK.

Gather evidence such as keeping a diary details of who what when where and try to record your feelings.

Contact your GP and Occupational Health Department if your company has one. OHD is independent of HR and will keep their own records without involving HR until / if the need arises.
