Chinese Consortium invests $400m in CFG

The Australian stuff is awful. BUT I do find myself watching it over breakfast and supporting Melbourne City booting the ball in the air against the other team booting the ball in the air.

It started from more or less a zero base though, most likely reflected in the price, not many fans, team crap. So economically it is all about growth, which has to happen. It can only be a winner the way CFG operate.

I thought the Australian fella had more idea than that Jason Kreis in New York though. Glad to see the back of him.

In wales mate, the club my son plays for has two under 10 teams and a vast majority of them have some kind of City footballing attire.

And when we have competitions sometimes in Cardiff or Swansea, there are just as many kids wearing City tops as any other clubs shirts so we are catching up!
Crikey that's very surprising

Interesting. I remember DD saying the same thing recently about Yorkshire where he lives. The last one to crack then is London and the South East where (despite the moniker) I live. We've got one of the biggest Saturday morning junior league sets up in the country right on our doorstep, and City shirts are still rarer than hen's teeth - maybe 1 or 2 out of some 300 kids aged between 7 and 13. By observation there are about 40% Chelsea, maybe 20% rags, 15% Candlepool, 15% The Arse, and 10% the rest (Spurs, Palace, Fulham etc). Just got to give it time I guess......

I'm a coach of a boy's team now so have a decent handle. It's not 75%. Totalyl off the top of my head in the younger age groups, Barcelona shirts are the most popular, followed by the local club Huddersfield Town, City, United and Liverpool in about equal numbers. When you get to the older age groups there are many fewer Barca and City.

Complete opposite in North Wales where I grew up..was one of 3 City fans in my entire school surrounded by Liverpool supporters..in fairness..there was very few rag fans too

Good stuff all the same that we're now punching at the same weight as the rags and the dippers. I never thought I would see that in my lifetime outside of SE Manchester!

Obviously something we don't really want to see - but the moment I see a City shirt in a disaster zone I'll know we've arrived.

My cousin is a mad blue and soldier. He tells a great tale about operating as a sniper in a warzone, might have been Bosnia. He tells the tale that he was scanning the area, saw a bloke in a United shirt and pulled the trigger. I'm sure it's just a story, but it's a funny one (unless you're family of the Gloryhunter getting put in the body bag).
