I think Isco might cushion this blow.....!
The BVB chief denied suggestions that his side had completed a deal for the Aajax attacker but reiterated interest in Kevin De Bruyne
Borussia Dortmund sporting director Michael Zorc has reacted with "astonishment" at suggestions that a deal has been completed to sign Christian Eriksen from Ajax.
The Champions League runners-up are on the look-out for a replacement to Bayern Munich-bound Mario Gotze, who is leaving for a fee of €37 million this summer.
Reports have claimed the Bundesliga outfit are on the verge of signing the Danish attacker, but Zorc has denied such rumours but reiterated interest in Chelsea midfielder Kevin De Bruyne, who impressed on a loan spell at Werder Bremen in 2012-13.
"I've read [the Eriksen rumours] with astonishment as well," the 50-year-old told Ruhr Nachrichten, adding: "However, the player [De Bruyne] wants to join us."
Meanwhile, Adam Maher has been linked as a possible successor for Eriksen at Ajax but the club's technical director Earnest Stewart confirmed the Dutch giants have not made an enquiry about the player yet.
"Ajax did not contact us so nothing is going on", Stewart told RTV Noord-Holland. "There's no club who have confirmed their interest. Adam still has a two-year contract with us."
Eriksen, 21, scored 10 goals and notched 13 assists in the Eredivisie this season just gone and has been heavily linked with leaving Netherlands for Germany in the summer.
De Bruyne, similarly, has been linked with a permanent stay in the Bundesliga, although Jose Mourinho is believed to be keen to keep hold of the Bayer Leverkusen-linked starlet.
