Christmas dinner preparations

I've been a long time follower of the forum but never registered. I thought now was the best time.

Earlier this year, I lost my best friend, my wife. We have 1 daughter but she now lives in Australia. For the first time in 62 years I will be spending christmas day on my own. I thought about going to a restaurant for dinner but the thought of being sat on my own, everyone staring, frightened me.

My message is this. Enjoy every moment of tomorrow, especially if you have kids as you never know what next year may bring. Dont squabble over the little things. If there's a family member you have fallen out with and haven't spoke to for a while, send them a message or give them a call just to say merry christmas. I'll go down to the cemetery tomorrow for couple of hours and then have a couple of beers watching tv, leaving a glass of wine next to where the wife used to sit. The way she would have liked it.

Merry Christmas Blues. Enjoy it.

rib of beef as always for us. Usually coat it with English mustard before cooking
I like it mate. Makes a tasty change from eating a big bird for 12 days.

And eating turkey for 12 days is also boring; )

Merry Christmas blues, peace n' love x.

We had rib of beef the past couple of years. Absolutely brilliant and with a 4-5 rib you can have everything from rare to well done in the same joint plus bloody good gravy and about 4 more dinners.

You whingebags. So what I do, leave the house for 12:30, pub, 5 beers, go home and the dinner is on the table. Simple.
