Singapore has quite hefty fines for littering. I remember being amazed how clean the streets were. We should follow suit

It is an amazing place but you can’t really compare it to any other city in the world as having the cane there as a deterrent has formed the society over the years.

There is a guy I have seen online who assists people as they are getting their fine for this offence. Basically tells them to give no details, walk into a shop and then they can't follow them. Job done

Have you ever walked through any UK city centre around 6am, the streets are covered in fast food boxes/wrappers, nothing seems to be done about this apart from the councils having to employ loads of people to clear it all up every morning.
Why don't they fine all these people who drop burger wrappings after a night out, they could make a fucking fortune

Not only city centre, there’s fast food wrappers all over the place just about everywhere where there’s local shops because at every local shopping parade, there’s at least two or three fast food takeaways, another disgrace for allowing this to happen. Why don’t the council submit a charge on fast food shops?

If the council started issuing fines for people who drop litter at 1.00am on Saturday in Manchester the police would say go ahead but don’t rely on us for help as we’re a bit busy at this time. The people who issue the fines would be in A & E in ten minutes. So they can do that or try and stop people dropping litter in the day time or just give up and sweep it all up.

What is the point of fining people who you know have no income? Other people do things worse than you isn't a very good excuse when you are still doing wrong. Saw some alcoholic/junkie piss up against a cathedral (assisted by his partner who had just tried to beg from, they weren't homeless, she had newly bought broom).

Can I now piss up against the wall? Can the bloke get off with the excuse that people shit in nearby alleyways.

As for littering perhaps the country need to revisit the Keep Britain Tidy campaign.

That said the number of rubbish bins overflowing says there are not enough and / or not being emptied regularly.
