Cigarette breaks

Best take on smoking.

The company I work for banned tobacco on their property. So if a person wants to smoke they literally have to leave the property. By rule, if you aren't leaving the property for a work related matter, then you must be off the clock. Funny how the number of smokers dwindled down to just a very small handful.

One is nipping out to have a hit of the drug they're addicted to and the other means they're a sexual fucking deviant who probably should be on some sort of register.
 
Poor or weak management will stop all cig breaks,half decent managers understand that a quick break is more likely to foster good relations ~& get a more dedicated work force.
No doubt the moaners have nothing better to do than count the seconds the proper workers are having on their well earned break.

This has got me thinking. We are looking in to the fact that smokers may make more mistakes when they are gagging for their fix.As their addiction is so strong there seems to be a point where all they seem to be able to concentrate on is their need for a nicotine fix.


At present we pay smokers for 38 hours and non smokers 40 hours this gives them two unpaid 12 min fag breaks a day up and above their normal breaks.

The other question raised this week when I discussed this with my staff was the fact that when a smoker comes back from a fag break everyone else has to put up with the smell.

Going forward it is highly likely that I will also go down this route and no longer employ anyone who smokes we will probably adopt this as actual Company policy.

ps that will include those stupid electronic cigs aswell
 
When I smoked I went out prob twice in the mornings and twice in the afternoon for a cig break, does you good to get away from your desk now and again and I'm sure if you use a screen H&S suggests you should have breaks from it every hour. In a company of 38 ppl only 2 now smoke and one of them is the owner so can't see them banning cig breaks anytime soon!
 
I don't take a lunch break and just split the time into smoke breaks during the day, works fine.
The funniest thing i've seen in work was when they banned the use of non company mobile phones during working hours. The younger staff were twitching more than the smokers waiting for their fix lol.
