I like white shorts but actually dont mind the blue either as thats what I associate my first Maine Road experiences with...

You're not in that much of a minority - I started around the same time (first game in '78). I still prefer white shorts, however!

As for the white flashes on the sides, they will make sense when we see the shorts IMO and it needs some white on there somewhere. A white neck collar would accentuate the v-neck and really would make it look wider/deeper than it really is.

Never saw the need for blue shorts, but never really botheted me that much.

I remember sitting at a game with the 2014 kits, and a guy in front of me would shout a loud and fast 'NO BLUE SHORTS!' like literally every 5 minutes. The whole game. It stuck with me, and now every time someone even mentions blue shorts in my mind instantly I hear is his abrupt cry. So it is a no blue shorts for me.
