City 1993 - only just over a generation ago

Kernaghan was a terrible, disastrous signing. Absolutely atrocious and weak as a kitten’s fart.
Not sure if true, but remember reading that he was actually signed using the money the club got in a grant to go towards converting the Kippax to all seater.

Big Mal claimed that he was a Blue.

He said he remembered watching us in the '34 Cup Final, and from then on, Manchester City was his team.

Hed met Sir Joe on an FA coaching course, and was on his way to Middlesbrough for an interview, when Joe called him about becoming his assistant at Maine Road, and the rest, as they say, is history.
Talking of good Blues Vienna, I do believe that you are one

I'll remember him for his first spell with us. I won't let rip on his second coming, I might get banned!

Back to Mal's story behind the purchase of Steve Daley. Swales never denied Malcolm's version.

I know it's 30+ years too late, but if that fucking idiot chairman hadn't wasted around half a million quid, Daley might not have felt the weight of the transfer fee, and played as he had at Wolverhampton.

Of course, we'll never know.

Really enjoyed watching that. Thanks for posting. I always wondered what on earth possessed Swales to appoint Maddock as General Manager, apart from the fact that he was a Yes Man, which answered my own question. Seeing that again hasn't changed my view. I remember attending the AGM's at the Social Club in those days and each was a shambles. All the Directors sucking up to Swales, especially when, as always, one or two disgruntled fellow shareholders asked awkward questions. The best one was when Franny & Colin Barlow were there before they took over. The atmosphere was toxic but still Swales & his mates felt they could ride it out. It really was black comedy and Typical City. Seems a lifetime ago, never mind a generation !
By the way, on the subject of a generation, 1993 was the year my son was born and he's as big a Blue as I've ever been. His generation have had one hell of a ride, haven't they ? Long may it last for all of us.

He's just about old enough to remember Wembley '99 then?

It's been a fantastic journey since then.
