It’s because of the first spell, and I think the fact that Joe and Malcolm gave us the best period in our pre-takeover history, and also Malcolm always held our club and fans in great esteem and never ever bad mouthed us. As an example I recall being at the swamp one time, and Malcolm went up to the Stretford end, and I can’t remember how many fingers he held up (I am sure he predicted the score!) but he was one of us and he fronted the cunts. I also think it very likely that had Joe and Malcolm never been at our club we would never have got the takeover. I agree that Malcolm’s second spell was with hindsight a mistake, but his first spell, and his general getting of what it means to be a Blue is why I completely disagree your surprise at the esteem most older City fans have for Big MalThats why amazes me he is still held in such high regards DESPITE that second spell

You must have done a lot of drinkingMaybe it was beacause those Big Mal years coincided with my most pissed years of my life, late teens early twenties,but i liked Silkman.

Hi Marcus, that’s why I said it was maybe more amongst the older fans. I was born in 59 and the first time I can remember is the one that Mercer and Allison created. Malcolm had faults, but he was a genius as a coach, and more than anything he was charismatic and he stood up to the rags and the media, he helped make us a bigger and more visible club. I don’t think we would be where we were today without Mercer and AllisonIts only surprise as its all before my time. First game as a 5 year old in 79

He said he remembered watching us in the '34 Cup Final, and from then on, Manchester City was his team.
Hed met Sir Joe on an FA coaching course, and was on his way to Middlesbrough for an interview, when Joe called him about becoming his assistant at Maine Road, and the rest, as they say, is history.

I had a ‘prepared fwf question’ too, but when I asked it Keys said they have a technical issue so ‘we’ll take a quick ‘ break. When they came back he ignored my question, it was never recorded. Even though we were shit,we still had a laugh on The Kippax and some great aways "We are so shit its unbelievable " was often sung,i just remember it being such good times,but it ALWAYS is being a Blue.
