City 3 - 1 Barcelona - Post match thread :-)

Not read the thread. Was Pep berating Willy for not kicking it long in the second half? That's what it seemed. I understand Barca are a much better quality than most of the teams we will play, but we seemed to have abandoned the "play it out from the back principle" in that second half. I have no problem with that, it was very effective. Willy is probably not as accomplished with that as Bravo.

Pep has said recently he will not compromise his principles, this seems dependent on the opposition and players available. I love surprising the opposition with our tactics. It is a relief to see such a pragmatic approach from Pep. Fabulous win, delighted to witness history.

A great evening was made even better by winning an 80/1 bet with Betfair on-line by predicting a 1-1 half time and 3-1 full time score. Silly odds in my view.

What a huge difference 6 days can make eh? Incredible performances all over the park, Aguero was tireless, dinho an absolute machine, KDB once again showing he is one of the best in the world, zaba's runs forward and (fair play to him, I'm not a fan, but) kolarov was absolutely solid. So so happy with gundogan, was really excited when he was bought and has taken no time at all to adjust to the team and the new league etc.
Historic night there, will live long in the memories. Fucking love you city!!!

What a beautiful glorious European night. Thank you Pep! And special thanks to Zab for rousing the crowd. You are a legend!!
I second that, and chuffed for zabaleta to be a big part of it after it seemed he was getting past it.

Last season the Leicester game at home really stuck out as one where it felt like the end of an era. Kompany injured (again) and the likes of Zabba and Yaya looking like they were at the end. It felt like we really did have an ageing squad that couldn't cope.

Full credit to Pep and the board for instantly transforming us. Stones has come in and though he might make mistakes, handled the most potent front three really solidly last night. People must remember the likes of Boateng often made mistakes when playing Pep's style. It's part of implementing his tactics. Not many can solidly perform without errors, Pique potentially one of few and Stones has so much time to get to that level.

Gundogan is a dream. He is a sensational footballer, the complete midfielder. Sterling should have scored, but was dangerous throughout. De Bruyne is world class and Silva, Ferny and Aguero were typically brilliant. It's taken very little time for our issues from last season to be resolved and when you look at the likes of Liverpool (how long since they won the league?), the Rags (Scholes, Rio, Vidic still not replaced) or Arsenal (always had a weakness since the days of Vieira and Henry) - we should be very very grateful. If last season we won the league cup and made it to the CL semi-finals, we can do anything this season!
