City 3 - 1 Barcelona - Post match thread :-)

After sleeping on it, we could and perhaps should have scored 6 or 7. Sterling penalty obviously. kdb nicked the outside of the post with a shot he would bury 9 times of 10. Sterling shot wide after very poor first touch took him too wide, Otamendi missed a sitter and another good chance (although he was offside for the 2nd one). Dave showed his usual rabbit in headlights composure in the box and ran wide. Sergio unusually failed to get a toe on the Kolarov cross. Etc etc etc.

Clearly I am delighted with the win which was thoroughly deserved. We played them off the park and we could have made the result even more emphatic.

Everyone happy with the choice to rest players against United now?
No. I still think the teams could have been shuffled to beat both. I guess I'll always be 'old school' when it comes to playing them.
Last night though was different class; so for that I thank all the gods that we have been blessed with Pep.

I think the first game ends similar if we take our chances and keep 11 men on which is what we did last night.

Amazing amazing night., All a bit of a blur.

I remember the goals, the crossbar omg! Zabba shouting at the fans, most amazing was the team happiness, togetherness and spirit.

This was such an important win, this now puts the fear of god into our opposition ahead. It is a turning point in the history of the club.

I dont keep many games for posterity but this one deffo, I got to find somewhere to download it.

Who was the guuy on BM forums who didnt like CL footy.... I bet he does now!

I can't really add much to what all the other Blues have already posted but what an epic win. I was going mental in the second half but in a good way. As an aside is that the first time we've played Barcelona in the Champions League and finished with 11 men?

game when you remember for years where you were; all the little details ,the people around you, the terrific atmosphere at 2-1! City I do love em!!
There is much much more to come!!!

Fantastic night, that second half was utterly special. Tremendous to watch, so proud of the effort level, every player gave their all. We were so quick and attacked with great pace. Pressed and defended well, bar the odd mistake. Barcelona, yes Barcelona, wow, as a neutral it must have been a brilliant game to watch. As a proud, old blue it was a joy, privileged to be there.

Think now is probably a good time to stop booing the anthem? Reading his programme notes it obviously pisses Pep off and I agree with him.

Pep has said recently he will not compromise his principles, this seems dependent on the opposition and players available. I love surprising the opposition with our tactics. It is a relief to see such a pragmatic approach from Pep. Fabulous win, delighted to witness history.

I think once Bravo is back, Pep will revert to type and play out from the back against Middlesbrough. It's always good to mix it up rather than passing it out from the back every single time.
