City are very close to a tipping point.

I don´t wanna rain on your parade but to be mindboggling the amount of money City would have to bring in would affect the world economy more than a nuclear war as we talk about the Al-Nahyan family having assets of around 2 trillion pounds in total..;)

Depends how you define mind boggling ;)

If we were the first club to turnover £500,000,000 in one year, that'd be pretty special imo. What if we became the first football club in history to turn over a billion... that'd be pretty mind boggling to me.

If we managed to come out of a financial year without making an operating loss, well, that's be pretty mind boggling to me too ;)

I saw this story this morning whilst over at relatives (funnily enough only talking about this possible development over a beer yesterday).
Seems to have been pumped up yesterday following yesterday's result and City's standing in the table.
An absolute non story considering what's been in the press already. Someone (again) has been reading this forum and have cut bits and bobs out of it, added a pic of (the quite photogenic, almost David Schwimmeresque) Shiekh Mansour and then a large pic of CoMs, and hey presto - breaking news!

I am sorry but what I am saying is more than one element.

More than results, more than a stadium, more tha a hotel or indeed a winning team.

What I am on about wont wait for a trophy either its about changing the way City are and how football is seen and experienced.

Its not about a snippet in the Mirror or the MEN as these people dont ahve any clue about what City is about to become.

Unfortunately I dont think many fans can see it yet either ;-)

Fbloke, you are now officially Bluemoon's master of melodrama.

Allow me to predict your next three threads:

"City's Plan for World Peace"

"First team to win the league without conceeding a goal"

"If you do not click on this thread your family will die"

Calm down mate...

I'd say I'm a realist and you're a fantasist, if I was being really honest ;-)

Had you done an E when you posted that or something? Honest question...

I'm sober, level headed and fully compus mentus.

I mention that because some may think I am over stating a few things, but I fully think City are close to a tipping point in the clubs recent history.

This, at present pal.

Yes, times are currently good, but would you have made this thread if we had been beat in the last two games?

My point is that whilst it's fun to think of what the club may be, there is no reason to think that anybody else such as the owner shares your vision. Our owner has lots of money, that's it, he is no different from any other owner as we witnessed by the Hughes sacking (despite who you want to pin this on, the owner must have had a significant contribution to it).

I notice that you grandstanded in the OP about how interested in charity all of our players will be, and how we will be holier than an angel's fart, but provided no ideas into how we may achieve this. Yes, we might drop the ticket prices to attract more fans with a higher attendance. If the Sheikh was as wholesome as you made out, tickets would be free. At the end of the day, he is a businessman, albeit one with an ulterior motive of promoting his and his Emirate's image rather than making money. He doesn't want to promote it for shits and giggles, but because it will make him extra billions in business and tourism revenue. That doesn't mean he is a twat, or that he isn't a good owner, but to paint this picture of a saintly person who has come to save us and football from the greed and corporatism is blatantly false. Anybody else remember the "Man City Drinks" idea and similar?

Players will come here, because we are a big club, an exciting club and have a shitload of cash. We will attract the 'futures market' of players - players who are willing to risk a bit more for a lot more of a reward for a bit longer, as the top players in the world will still want guaranteed CL footy, and we can't give that to them over the next 3 years (as nobody knows where we'll finish, how Spurs/Villa and especially Liverpool/Arsenal will do next year).

It would be nice to think of the club as the organisation that you are talking about, but this is solely dependent on our success on the field. Nobody cares if you are God's own club, if you are tenth in the table. Besides, I personally don't believe we will ever become the type of club you are talking about purely because there is no upside in it for anybody. I'm pretty sure that the Sheikh would rather us be a cash cow in 20 years, than a saintly club.
