City bus scheme for home games - bus tracking (P91)

they couldve built a guided busway from ground to town quiet easy like one through tyldesley must be cheaper than tramway
75 million from Leigh to Ellenbrook, about 15 million/mile. In theory they have because from where the guided busway hits the East Lancs to Trinity Way it follows dedicated bus lanes. It’s the journey across town that causes the issues. Gt Ancoats St in particular: it’s only two lanes, no bus lanes, lots of traffic lights and lots of cars joining from both sides. Tbf it’s been fine other than the two 3 o’clock Saturday kick offs.

To be fair, yesterday looked to be far and away the busiest traffic day this year from what I could see.

I was still in town at 2 am and there was still gridlock all over town.

Not a lot buses can do to run to time when the traffic’s that bad.

You had the boxing going on at the co op arena yesterday as well. Against Spurs I think there's a concert there that night.

Extend the stadium build a large concert hall and do fuck all about traffic flow and public transport.

Sums this country up perfectly.

Sorry for the delay in coming back to you all on the points raised over the last couple of pages.
Just a few updates and answers to questions...

  • For every matchday we inform operators of the schedule and time they're required to be at the starting stop of their route. Unfortunately this is not always communicated properly and issues arise, such as buses departing early or late. We also try to speak to the drivers, via the operator, but again that's not always possible - hence the issue for Sparta where I couldn't provide a further update. We are constantly working with the operators to address these and can only apologise for the impact to fans' journeys.
  • We review timings and performance after every matchday to see if any tweaks are required. MC12 was mentioned, and we tweaked the timings for this so that it should now be faster.
  • We are aware that coming into the festive period, journeys are likely to take longer for the evening kick offs. We'll therefore be tweaking the departure times for Feyenoord and Nottingham Forest so that services depart a little earlier to account for increased congestion. These times, along with the other confirmed December and January fixtures will be added to the site in the coming weeks.
  • We've had a couple of messages regarding post-match departure and whether 25 minutes is sufficient time or not. As you can imagine, it's a bit of a balancing act managing the departure for supporters who are sat on the side close to Connell College and those who aren't, and those who are able to walk quickly and those who aren't.
We felt that 25 minutes is probably just about the right amount of time, so that people aren't waiting too long while allowing those further away time to make it.
At the moment we will be maintaining that approximate departure time, however if you are concerned you may miss the service please speak to the driver and staff on the ground to let them know, so that they don't depart without you. We don't want you rushing back and struggling thinking you'll miss the service.
