This whole 'yellow card rule' is preposterous and pure wank in equal measure.
It's fucking insane.
It's fucking insane.
Perhaps it is the fact that I support the team on the other side of this, that my perspective is different, but most Chelsea fans would look at the Aguero tackle and see that as the instigator. I'm sure City players would stick up for their player if they had suffered a tackle like that. And indeed, they did stuck up for their mate when Aguero was shoved to the ground.

I agree. But i would expect any City player in such a situation to get a red card for violent conduct.
It wasn't pretty all round, including Aguero's tackle, but you come across as if all Chelsea's players are saints.
Far fucking from it.
Aguero was totally out of order and got not himself banned but probably our most important player yes if he hadn't done what he did then nothing would have happened, and if Taylor had done his job Luiz wouldn't have been on the pitch, but the instigator of the brawl was Chalobah.
Luiz should have been sent off. I totally agree. Ref bottled it completely. But I don't see Chalobah as the instigator. He reacted with emotion to a very poor tackle. I was happy with the yellow in that instance.
I appreciate that my perspective here is different from all of yours and I don't want to antagonize anyone reading this by trying to defend Chelsea too vehemently, so I'll log back out very soon :)
The yellow card is just a manipulation tool for authorities. It allows referees to not punish favourites or "important" players in big matches or from big teams, and also allows a referee to prevent players from being retrospectively punished. It basically takes difficult red cards, or incidents that require a modicum of cognitive capability to provide judgement on, out of the referee's hands.
