Tbf, I’ve seen games in European competitions this season that were far worse in terms of pyrotechnics than that.Agreed but I reckon the genie is out of the bottle on these incidents and add to that the dipper shitshow in France.. and tabloid headlines about football returning to the dark old days etc. PL and teams , including ours will not want English fan behaviour to be used as a stick to threaten bans from the money printer or to “sully” the product for big money sponsors etc. I was quite shocked at the end of our last game V Villa when I watched it later on TV and saw Laporte. He honestly looked terrified.
There could be a minimum fixed penalty notice to avoid court and criminalisation, £500 first offence for example, mainly just to not waste court time like for driving and town centre disorder offences.Yeah, I don’t think that’s right personally.
So if he hadn't thrown it onto the pitch, the course of events could have changed......If it's the one who threw one on the pitch when we chasing a goal then it should have been a lifetime ban.
