City fans asking for Barca fans to be kicked out

It's what makes football shit that I can't sit next to a Barca fan, have an insightful conversation with him during the game and yet if he so much as cheers when his team scores he gets abused and thrown out. If the morons who react to their presence with such vitriol could see what knobs they look then I'm sure they'd put a lid on it.
You wouldn't allow it with a rag, scouser, cockney, Geordie, etc so why is it different for a foreign fan... I am talking about their cheering a goal in our fans, if they do it they should expect a bit of shit cos we would if we did it in an away ground

You see this is your problem. I have supported City since Mercer and Allison first came and in those long ago days I used to go to many away games. Sometimes, believe it or not, for a mid-week game I have taken two United supporters with me who have wanted a day off work! On other occasions they have offered me a ticket for a United game and I have said thanks very much and then stood up and applauded when they scored. My Dad was always a City fan and my uncle was United and I can remember as a child that they would go together, one week to watch City the next to watch United. After all its only a game.

I understand some people wanting to get together and bounce up and down as in the proposed new singing areas and I would agree that opposition supporters and neutrals be kept clear of such areas. As for the rest of the ground I would like to see sensible fans mixed together as happens in US sports I have attended where opposition fans happily sit side by side.

If they were playing someone other than City, of course. Why not? I am a football fan. I like to see great players (although perhaps Falcao is not as great as they hoped!)

I was in Melbourne in December '14 and attended the 'Melbourne derby', Hearts versus Victory, starring Harry Kewell. They have what my son termed an 'active fan zone' where fans of both teams can mingle and enjoy some light hearted, friendly banter, whist marvelling at the silky skills of the former Leeds and Liverpool winger. Now I don't know whether it was simply a reflection on how far Harry has fallen in the talent stakes, but he clearly failed to capture the attention of his audience and they spent most of the game kicking the shit out of each other. It came as something of a shock because I cannot remember the last time I witnessed violence at a sports stadium in England. Strangely I went to the Boxing Day Ashes test at the MCG and, despite battering a woeful England side, they started to fight amongst themselves during the afternoon session there as well. I think drink may well have played a part at the cricket!

I saw it, and the guys that wanted them kicked out, I've never seen before, but they were talking to some regulars on the concourse. Talking to a steward at half time, he said we try and tell them to stay sat down, but sometimes there are just too many

yes these were the fans in front of me aisle 123/125 was about 4 or 5 barca fans (spanish) who made no hassle and jumped up when they scored the first goal maybe they should or shouldn't didn't bother me, they were polite and harmless caused no trouble and then some prick of a fair weather big game tourist city fan who I've nva seen before in my years of sitting there jumped up giving them shit and was aggressive and asking for them to be removed! I've nva wanted to punch a fellow "FAN" as much in my life! me and my nephew stuck up for the barca fans and told the stewards he should have been removed! and he started on us at half time. i was the pork pie hat wearing fella.
Seen you on the concourse, didn't the old bill step in before the second half started?

yeah the police stepped in to calm him down because he was still being a cnut!
our regular city steward was giving him a talking to and he was giving verbals to the steward and looking over at me and my nephew so we went to have a chat and he couldn't see what a wanker he was being! still being aggressive etc. so the police came over pulled him then we left to go sit down and he came back down a few mins after ko, and when we scored he just turned round and gave them shit didn't even celebrate the goal! he was a utter tool and i'm pretty sure he himself was a tourist!
funny thing is when we were having a chat at ht I said would you not do the same at barca if that was your only chance of a ticket? he says I've sat in the Stretford end surrounded by utd fans! argument finished then pal!?

Got tickets through work for one of the Leeds stands at Elland Road
Thought we won't cheer if we score but we did but looked plonkers when Peter Reid's goal was disallowed as he touched the penalty again after hitting the post
their fans took the piss but were ok

I really don't mind who sits next to me as long as they are not an idiot, it happens at the cricket! I've sat next to Indians at a one dayer aussies at the ashes both at old Trafford all while pissed up. you'd stand in the close proximity of a utd fan watching football in a pub so why not in the ground? foreign fans are easier to accept coz they not a direct threat to our domestic game! I really cant understand some peoples thick headedness we have some real arsehole supporters nowadays.

what would you do in a world cup/euros scenario when everybody sits together?

you haven't seriously compared cricket to football, ffs... Derby day at ours, one rag fan jumped up celebrating and was chased out of the block and all over the concourse, till he ran into the commonwealth suite to escape, deserved every slap he got, same as one of us would if we jumped up in the Gladys street end for instance... Not a chance do I want away fans in and around me while we playing in our stadium
