City Fans Leaving Early/Empty seats

I went to a music concert the other night. The music was great ,the audience mixed ages but predominantly 50+. When urged to stand, clap, sing, join in -half the people just sat on their arses staring at the stage or their phones. Its the new phenomenon of crowds a) sitting down =not engaged, b)easily distracted by phones, refreshments etc= watching a match is like being at the cinema where you sit and get entertained but are not expected or wanted to join in.
Which band was that ?

Which is why an extension of the ground may work.
Unless City reorganise the whole ground and have people shuffle up single tickets will remain unsold.
Agreed, we need to rearrange the ground. Manure and Liverpool have swathes of empty seats - mainly in the upper sections. However, the compactness of Anfield means that you can have a group of ten seats empty, but you would hardly notice. West Ham are getting 56/57,000, but a handful of empty seats stands out a mile. We have the same problem.

I do think there is something to that but any rag would just laugh if you tried to use that excuse. We're just going to be have to do it better than them somehow. We do most things better these days, I would love them and the dippers not to have that stick to beat City with anymore. Along with back to back PL wins, a few CL wins of course and a nice decade of dominance with City being head and shoulders above the rest of the league so they pretty much have to accept this is City's era and they truly are "a massive club" now, which makes that little meme quite funny. :)

For me a lot of the apathy set in when it became almost impossible for new young fans to get to away games.
That is where the real craic is.
When they go to aways regularly they soon get hooked.
Before anyone with thousands of points gets on my case I know you earnt them, but there is no easy answer.
Years ago I spent about 6 seasons travelling to every away game with Leve blues.
Bill Black always found ways to get tickets for new younger fans that was their way in.
That route seems blocked now.
Following City when we were shit seemed easier you just needed a thick skin.
I don't want to go back btw but the Atmosphere with Leve blues was special.
I accept those days have gone forever and I am glad I'm not looking to replicate those days.
I just accept empty seats sold or otherwise are just the present day reality.
Brilliant times with Leve Blues and had some great supporters evenings in the Con club, Deano's films, Fast Bob the driver and Buster Phillips turning up at the club on his 21st etc etc. The Ostend end of season trip one year is one never to be forgotten!! The good old days.

Remember teaching some dutch fans the Ryan Giggs is illegitimate song on that Ostend trip.
Great times indeed.

We have never had this many people leaving early. Even a few years ago under Mancini it wasn’t as bad as it is. Your trying to defend it now, but it wasn’t like this at maine road or a few years ago.
Of course it was.Thats the whole point of my original post.look at the crowd in Platt Lane on the video footage.5 mins to go in a Manchester Derby(back in the day when Manchester had two fine teams,ho hum)there are hoardes of folk making fheir way to the entrance, only slowed down by the fine entertainment provided by Marsh and Summerbee, down by the corner flag...the pace of the exit is flattened by our players taking the piss out of bobby charlton and martin buchan.
You say it wasnt like this at Maine road...it was when i was on the Kippax late 80s early 90s...every game you d see folk, some you were engaged in conversation with ,suddenly spin and head for the exit.it was part of Football.it happened. You say "we never had so many people leaving early"
How do you know? I can only speak for the fans on fhe Kippax terrace around me....looking across the pitch at the Main stand you would see folk jump up and bolt off with 15 mins to go...its what people do.i had to leave The Kippax many a time before the final whistle,to make sure i got the first bus back into town on a Saturday afternoon,so i could get the bus back to notts(3and a half hour journey)...if i missed that at 5.40pm.i was fucked.the next bus was 7.40 amd stopped at Derby...it didnt go on to notts.....didnt matter how exciting the game was towards the end-i had to make that bus! Thats just my experience. I put an awful lot of time and effort into seeing City in the 80s,i had football on the sunday morning to play..no way was i letting my team mates down-..basically ...when you gotta go....you gotta go...

.......

Those leaving early in that game were obviously rags after yet another humiliation in those days!

Typical goblin from a small town club gobbing off to the rags and dippers narrative.

That said with the football we are playing its puzzling why so many can't be arsed to enjoy every minute of it.
Bit rich when they couldn't even travel 30 miles down the road to fill their allocation.
