When we were shit! Every time we played Chelsea Arsenal Liverpool and the scum!

Strange how we managed to get relegated so many times back then with this perfect support getting behind the team. Doesn't this negate the OP's point somewhat?

Don't know how old you are or how long you av been going to city! But there was a sea of change in the fans, when we were in div 1(league3) when we played Stoke city at home! We were 0-1 down all the moaning was going on! Then all off a sudden the fans attitude changed there was a positive vibe through ground we actually got behind the team cheered them on! We won 2-1! From that day on till promotion to the premier there was mainly a positive vibe!

If it improves a player why haven't we won everything that's going?! The amount of moaning and groaning at our club for the last 30 years?!

You're contradicting yourself.

Just because I disagree with the OP doesn't mean I think the exact opposite is true. Very simplistic.

No I haven't read my posts! Instead of thinking what to wright next!

Do you actually want the team to do well ? How exactly is berating your own player (calling him sh*t for example) going to help ?

Assuming the answer to the 1st question is yes then please explain the answer to the 2nd question.

I like to think I'm open minded and would love to hear how your approach would help the team to do better.

Yes of course I do. But I also have expectations over how the team should play, the Man City style of doing things, behaviour off the pitch as well as on it.

Like I said to waspish... just because I don't agree with this "support no matter what" philosophy you crave for, I don't necessarily believe in an exact opposite philosophy. I think an even-handed and fair approach is sufficient. Praise when it is due, etc... or as the primary school teaching goes, "a wish and two stars"!

Fantastic post from the op. This is the best squad of players we have ever had and not every player will be on form every game. The exception to this is Jo but I would never boo him though I might tut quietly!

Fair do's, I don't think that's unreasonable. I adopt a 'pick them up' when their down appoach. I don't believe any player goes out to play poorly.

Having looked at that two stars and a wish approach that's eminently positive (so maybe we're not too different after all) as you highlight two good things and one thing that you 'wish' they could improve.

Even if you don't wish to encourage the players and only praise if they've earnt it that's one thing but hurling abuse at your own players is another imo.

Nah. Sorry. A well written and well worded thread starting post. But at it's heart it's just another 'get behind the team at all times' b*llox post.

I don't have a go during games because it does absolutely no good whatsoever. But on forums I will have my say because the truth has to be outed. For example:

Fact 1: Jo is a complete waste of space and anyone picking him and playing him needs their bumps feeling. Sorry Roberto, although I can see what your doing elsewhere I just don't get this one at all. I'm told he keeps the 'team shape' - yeah well so would a statue. Oh...

Fact 2: Vieira can still do a job for us. What job is that then? Kitman? Physio? Because it certainly isn't as a footballer. He is just so slow now.

Fact 3: Great tackler and ball player he maybe, but Barry has lost a good yard+ of pace this season, so much so that he should have 'Fred' painted on his shell and handed over to BBC Blue Peter as the new pet tortoise. Most of our problems on the left flank are down to his inability to QUICKLY cover a City player - be it full back or left wing. I actually think his loss of pace is so bad that his carear in the top flight may be over - which is quite sad. Still he'd be Ok in the Vieira Roll of comming on to lock down a game when the pacey players have dropped to a pace he can handle. Personally I think Milner should be given a go in his slot in the 1st choice side.

Fact4: Kolarov. Jury definately out. He doesn't yet look up to the speed of the Prem. He is slowly improving though and improvement does need games.

I would never boo Jo, i think everyone knows he's not good enough. Booing your own player though is shocking unless he's showing he can't be arsed and doesn't give a toss which isn't Jo at all.

Not sure you've read my subsequent post Anorak where I've tried to qualify myself.

You said its just another 'get behind the team at all times' b*llox post.

Followed by,

I don't have a go during games because it does absolutely no good whatsoever.

So do you get behind the team at all times or not ? On the one hand you say getting behind the team at all times is b*llox and on the other you say you don't have a go during games. You can't have it both ways.

With regards to your points they are not facts they are opinions.

Point 1: Struggling with a defence of Jo's quality apart from his scoring record in Brazil and Russia but as long as Mancini picks him (for whatever reason I will get behind him)

Point 2. If he was a regular you'd have a point, he does a good job as a squad player and despite clearly not being as mobile as in his heyday still has quality. (You don't lose that)

Point 3. Barry, completey disagree. Barry has never relied on pace and has been one of our most consistent midfielders imo. Being a mainstay in a team that is 3rd in the premiership doesn't leave 18 other teams midfielders with much to shout about. Do you actually see how we always control possession ? All about opinions though I guess and fortunately its Mancini's and not yours that counts.

But 40,000 people tutting quietly makes quite a loud and discouraging noise for the poor lamb.

Blue Mooner,

I really dont know where you sit but this isnt my experience of going to city. Football is an emotional game if you are passionate about the club then those emotions get conveyed during the course of the game. I know ive muttered the odd expletive or have been infuriated by a poor pass or a lack of effort on the part of a player. Ive never sat there and heard the crown constantly criticise and this season my only memory of open hostility is the replacement of Tevez with Barry against Brum.

Weve got a good following and statistically never been better since the mid-70s. Yes people criticise on a forum, sometimes outlandishly and without reason but its a forum its not a reflection of how people behave at the game..maybe your getting the two confused
