City fans writing John Stones off too early?

will hold my hands up too on giving up on Stones towards the end of last season.

Couldn’t see him back in a City shirt & most importantly excelling in one.

Have said it a couple of times but the very few times I have seen him play this season he has looked like a Rolls Royce defender almost like he’s had a brain transplant- long may it continue although I suspect the introduction of Dias in the squad has helped him from a confidence point of view.
I’m sure Dias has helped, but also noticed a few people, including my son have said they think he’s bulked up a bit and is looking stonger in challenges. Mentally as well he seems to have got stronger, but maybe that just getting his confidence back..

I’ve not got a ‘love in’ with John Boy, I never lost faith in him. Yes he’s lost some confidence but he will come good again.

Agree with this, he was great with Laporte. Injuries have taken their toll. He needs time.
However I completely trust Peps judgement.
Pep seems to believe in him.
Just as I see it. He was left exposed with Vk going and Laporte getting that injury. Hopefully with the defense looking like it's solid again the confidence will come back.

John Stones for me is the best footballing centre half at the club. Now that he is fit and hopefully sorted out what was going on in his private life then he can have a long successful run in the side. His good form gives us a lot of competition in that position that we haven’t had for a while.

People had every right to criticise John stones because his form was shocking and there was no denying it . I was one of the people that said he should have been sold but I’m really happy I’ve been proved wrong .

Hands up here too.

I thought he got a touch of the already made it so no need to make an effort syndrome. Otherwise know as doing a Rag kid. Happy I'm being proven wrong.

I backed him in this thread. He’s always been one of my favourite City players. Think he’s the best footballer we have from the back 6 (‘keeper, back 4, defensive mid).

It was simply continual picking up of injuries, which lead to no way form could be played into. But his ability was always there.

So glad he’s come through to the first XI again. Been our best player since he came back into the team. Well happy!

Difference in tactical approach makes a huge difference. Will he be able to replicate his old form in a more open system when covid ends and our football normalizes again, which i fully expect it to in the next 12-18 months.

I was also one to call him out.
He’s proved me wrong.

looks like a new player, looks to have bulked up a bit too which has helped as in his poor run of form he looked so weak.

well done John, glad to have you back at it.
