so let me get this right...if heaven forbid we didnt get top four,if he wanted to sheikh mansour could spend whatever he likes as we wouldnt be in europe.we would then have 12 months to get the books balanced for ffp?
it just seems fucking bizarre..
spend to get in..
once in punished if you break the rules..
miss out..spend a load again trying to get in knowing you got 12 months to sort the books.

Ffp is very perverse..

edit..whatever happened to ffp in the premier league??I want to know qprs figures just out of interest

If we ever did miss out sometime soon Platini would use that time to introduce new rules ruling out spending more whether in Europe or not....watch

No it doesn't work like that, if you miss a year then you get back in but your books are then submitted and if you fail then you get punished. Liverpool are allowed to compete now but when their books are submitted, around now, if they fail they should then get punishment for next year.

Re: City & FFP (continued)

Has anyone worked out how much money we could theoretically spend next season and beyond given increased revenue, the ending of the sanctions and the new FFP monittoring amount/period?

also..chances of ffp being deemed illegal etc?whats happening with the dupont case?
Good point.
Surely all the tax questions being raised about certain deals will demonstrate to the courts that it is unfair at least, and indeed virtually impossible to apply a blanket set of rules (FFP) to everyone operating within the same market, if they are not all subject to the same fiscal policies.
If they are serious about "level playing fields" then this is an issue which has to be addressed.
Some multi-national companies ( and some Iberian football clubs) may get away with "special tax arrangements" but if I remember, platini told us, in his justification for FFP, that football was not like other businesses, and should not be subject to the same business rules.
Seems like they want it both ways. Surprise, surprise!

Why are they getting tax credits and surely they do not count for FFP?
And why should they get any tax relief when they weren't paying their Corporation Tax demands?

I just provided the facts from a schedule that is easily available. I don't have the inclination to try to find out more and I am not sure I would be able to follow it all through and understand it properly anyway. I understand we are looking at various companies and it is probably very complex. However, a simple way of getting a credit to Profit and Loss Account is when there has been a previous reserve included in deferred tax in the Balance Sheet which may represent something that may become payable in the future but for which it is decided a reserve is no longer required. As an example if the sale of assets at Balance Sheet value would create a tax liability then a deferred tax liability would be brought into the accounts but which would not be immediately payable. If it were later decided that part of this liability would no longer arise then it could be credited back to Profit and Loss Account which would add to the profits for that year. In United's case there may be various non-UK associated companies that add to the complication. It may become more of a question for an international tax specialist rather than a Bluemoon discussion!

Re: City & FFP (continued)

As we all know FFP is a ruse by the elite clubs to maintain the status quo. They have no interest whatsoever about what happens to those outside of their cosy cartel.

1038 pages it does not have to be!

Simply adopt the NFL model - end of story!

How can there ever be 'fairness' when a club like the rags can attract outrageous inflated sponsorships when obviously someone like Villa or Everton cannot for example?

They will never be able to compete at the highest level as FFP has smashed their dreams - should not have voted for it should they?

I can see how some fans may have been put off football because of the obvious gerrymandering of finances by the top clubs in Europe.
