City & FFP | 2020/21 Accounts released | Revenues of £569.8m, £2.4m profit (p 2395)

Thats got to be unfair. First of all he breaks FFP rules by investing massively in players and infrastructure then he starts to make profits of that magnitude after a year or two.
In my opinion this stinks of taking a standard business plan from the real world and applying it to football, it should be not allowed otherwise others might try to do the same.

Is that you Gill?
Or Wenger ? It's got to one of them.

I think you might be missing the point he's trying to make.

We know A A Gill......the restaurant reviewer for the Sunday Times.
Suggest this Red Bastard is referred to as T T Gill.......... (That Tw*t) ........ FFP advocate
Just saying!

FFP rules! My understanding FFP is dead therefore no rules!

Apologies for inadvertently omitting the verb - I meant 'it's got to be one of them".
I was reinforcing the obvious irony of the esteemed Mr fox's post by implying that his missive may hypothetically have indeed issued forth from either of those two avid proponents of so-called FFP.
Hope this clears things up!

£440m was Real Madrid's entire revenue last year. We might be able to spend that and still make a profit, but we wouldn't be able to spend much else over the length of all of the players' contracts (£88m a year amortisation).

If we did have 400 mil plus to spend ( which would surely mean our income would need to be about 600 700 mil & is therefore bollocks ?) I would prefer we just spend less than half of it, on the players we genuinely need, & bank the rest. Build up a fund so that when either Messi, or the next Messi becomes available, we can make such a sickeningly huge offer that none of the other clubs can even consider competing.

Our net profit next year (i.e. the year the summer window opens) should be be in the region of £60-70m. Add back £20m for allowable FFP expenditure plus the £25m we are allowed to lose under FFP and we're looking at being able to absorb £90m additional expenditure. Someone's presumably done that sum, multiplied by 5 (based on 5 year contracts) and come up with that figure.

I suspect our friends in China might come knocking with some outrageous offers for some of our squad.

Yaya, simply in terms of profile, is worth £50m to a league that doesn't have to justify fair value to anyone.

I'd go as far to say if Samir and Demichelis went with him, we could get closer to £100m!
