City & FFP | 2020/21 Accounts released | Revenues of £569.8m, £2.4m profit (p 2395)

Re: City & FFP (continued)

We all knew it would be some time this month when this news would come out, just didn't think we would be in a winning position to take the league,so let's hold two fingers up to UEFA win the league, leave the suits to do what they do best.

I don't think we have any option about fighting it, if true.

1. £50m is not beer money, I don't care who you are. You could save a lot of lives in Africa with £50m and having it extorted out of you is not "OK" just because you can afford it. It's morally unacceptable.

2. The proposed squad restrictions and salary cap would seriously damage our chance of progress in the CL in future seasons.

3. It must mean that they have refused to accept our valuation on certain transactions. This does not only impact this year. It means we will miss again next year unless we cut our planned spending, which clearly we do not accept we must do.

First step in the process is a simple statement from us informing UEFA that we will not be paying the fine and not accepting the squad restrictions. Over to you...

In a footballing context, that right there is the big one, it will restrict a players availability, and ability to make money, in turn it would also damage our ability to attract players if they weren't allowed to play in the competition.

FFP is a straw man argument, cooler heads will prevail.

Maybe I'm just not reading this right but for what its worth

1) City negotiating hard on the sanctions is fine. UEFA have already extended the deadline so clearly there is some wriggle room. 2) The £50m fine does not (apparently) impact on the P&L as its paid directly by the owners and yeah I can see why it sticks in the gut - after all its not OK for you to invest in your club but it is OK to line our pockets ta very much. Also the fine is payable over 3 years so I don't know if you get let off later installments if you bring the club into profit 3) The reduction in CL squad size I am not convinced that its that big a deal (but I may be talking bollocks here)

I do see that accepting the sanctions is a tacit acceptance of wrongdoing which may be the issue as much as anything else but I also think going to war over perceived 'injustice' or hurt feelings is bad business. You only go to war when you are damn sure you are going to win. City will have already done the groundwork on a legal battle and the likely scenarios and consequences of winning or losing. Its great talking about going to war etc etc but at some point, and being entirely pragmatic, sucking it up and accepting some form of sanction may be the best course of action in the long term *dons tin hat*

Re: City & FFP (continued)

Is anyone also surprised that this comes out 24 hours before we play one of the biggest games of the season?

Re: City & FFP (continued)

We should now just give them two-fingers big-time.... Sign Ronaldo, Messi, Ibrahimovic... every fucking big name football star in Europe... fuck the cost, fuck if we earned the money or not... just buy them, then turn round to UEFA and tell them to go fuck themselves!
Then sit back and watch all the sponsorship pull-out because their star players wouldn't be in it!

I have no agenda here, I personally think it's embarrassing they're willing to charge clubs this amount for FFP yet refuse to take this strong of a stance for racism charges.

All I'm saying is people talking about boycotting the Champions League, or suing UEFA for losses if they're barred are being absent minded from the fact that UEFA can choose to exclude City from CL and face zero repercussions.
Have you got any kind of a background in Law mate?

No, I just doubt UEFA are stupid enough to action these level of sanctions without knowing precisely where they stand legally (although, I wouldn't put it past down).

Again, it shouldn't be near £50 million, and it shouldn't be near the same level as PSG. The squad reduction would be more than adequate.

It shouldn't be anything. City have done nothing wrong. Rules are being made up as they go along in an attempt to corrupt the competition.

Re: City & FFP (continued)

Tell UEFA to shove their CL up their arse, it is as corrupt as fuck any way, from seedings, to the refs.

Win the league every year and rest the players.Fuck em.

Re: City & FFP (continued)

Listen, we all know what a bunch of thick twunts Uefa are. Lets get our lawyers to work on it.

so PSG make a much bigger loss than us yet get a similar deal, funny.

£50m fine + squad restrictions is obscene and isn't a punishment, it's a blatant attempt to nullify us and destabilise us.

Funny this comes out the day after Liverpool fuck up.

It's just blatant, absolutely blatant.

I'm sure you are about to explain to us just how a UEFA ruling scheduled for this morning and Liverpool drawing last night are somehow inextricably linked via conspiracy theory here, because to the casual onlooker such as myself the two have precisely fuck all in common.
WE KNEW LAST WEEK WE'D HEAR SOMETHING ON THE 5TH MAY THE TIMING ISN'T THE ISSUE HERE
;)

Ahhh... But you seem to discount the possibility that Liverpool contrived to lose a 3-0 lead to coincide with the announcement. Typical scouse trick.

Agenda I tell 'ee... Agenda.

As regards to the champions league, it is a UEFA tournament. If they choose not to invite us and PSG, then isn`t that their perogative?

No they can't do that! They are leeches living on money which clubs like us bring. I am sure FA will be willing to fight our corner and force other clubs like rags and renties to abide if we properly soft blackmail FA given that we are the biggest fish in league.

On the basis that they said about 3 weeks ago that the results of who had failed and what punishment they would get would be released on the 5th/6th of May then no.
