Having spent the weekend looking into what the squad size reduction means for City, I'd suggest that we are fighting not just the financial sanctions, but also this particular sanction. A 21 man squad with 8 "English" players would leave us with a huge problem in registering players for next season's competition. We'd effectively be limited to 13 "foreign" players, and this is with me including Richards and Rodwell in our calculations. If we were to lose those two then the picture becomes even more complicated.

HART* PANT
NASTY KOMPANY CLICHY* KOLAROV RICHARDS* ZABA DEMI
DINHO NAVAS MILNER* NASRI RODWELL* SILVA GARCIA TOURE
DZEKO AGUERO JOVETIC NEGREDO

That's 21 players right there, and there's only 5 homegrown players in there two of whom are Richards and Rodwell. If we lose the appeal and/or are have our squad limit imposed I don't see how we pick a CL squad strong enough to do well in the competition without replacing at least two of our first team regulars with English players.

This is beginning to feel like a huge clusterfuck of problems.

We could always buy some English !

WIth the money they won't let us spend? How about Rio on a load deal. Jesus Christ this stinks.

So what's your thinking lads?

Some saying the UEFA pronouncement delay is a good sign, and that they are going to back down and let us off lightly?

Or is it because they are going to through the book at us and are just double-checking the legal position one last time before they do?

I really don't know how to read this now.

I think we're passed any kind of "compromise". This will go to the appeal panel and then to the CAS if we don't get a favourable outcome during the first appeal.

What is beginning to worry me as I said earlier is how the potential CL squad size reduction effects our summer business. As champions we should be reinforcing from a position of strength this summer and not fucking about with UEFA which is what it looks like we will have to do until mid July.

I think we should carry on, business as usual and sign whoever we planned on signing, on the assumption that compromise will be found, our punishment will be reduced, or we will win in court. If none of the above come to pass, then we should deal with the consequences such as they are, at the time. Not beforehand, in anticipation.

Unbelievable. It says more about the quality of English players than anything else. If England played in the Premier League, they wouldn't win it.
