City & FFP | 2020/21 Accounts released | Revenues of £569.8m, £2.4m profit (p 2395)

The only way you can be elected president is by sucking up to key clubs in the first place, so by the time you're in position, you're already beholden to them.
These men aren't wanting to be friends of Port Vale, they want to be friends of Real Madrid, Bayern, Barca etc. It's an old members club, and will take years to reform.

Agree that any appointment has to be sanctioned by the already powerful but is there a potential split of PL from the rest due to PL television money ?

I think this is the right place, I`ve just reviewed the anual report of 2013/14 and got a question:

5. Staff numbers and costs
football staff, including players: 112Mio £
commercial/administrative staff: 202Mio £

So now, why the hell is the commercial/admin staff so expensive? Can anyone explain it to me? Thanks!

I can't imagine the PL is popular anywhere but England (I'm talking about other associations of course, not fans), and similarly UEFA won't be popular amongst the rest - which is why Blatter keeps getting elected - he worked out that whilst UEFA is the most popular and biggest Association, the rest combined hold more sway.

I think it's all just a political viper's nest and nothing much will change regardless of who is in, as the people behind the scenes voting the presidents in are the same old cronies as ever. Even if a 'good guy' managed to get elected, he'd be ousted soon after rocking the boat.

I don't know if PL could drop out of UEFA - I suppose technically it could, but I doubt it ever would (unless other big clubs in Spain / Italy / Germany banded together to form a new Association).

Thanks for your opinion Fanchester.

What about the European members of this vipers nest, as you accurately describe them, wanting to elect one of their own rather than giving any of the PL based candidates the chance. In other words are they likely to elect Gill ?

I've no idea really. I do wonder if Platini would even win the FIFA election though. I'm sure there's a lot of bitterness towards UEFA, and the other Associations might fancy voting for anybody BUT Platini (who will still be seen as representing UEFA's best interests). I wonder what happens if Platini doesn't win the FIFA election, does he remain head of UEFA?
As for Gill, I don't know. Maybe we're a bit 'attuned' to him and assume he's the next in line, but that might not be the case. Whatever happens, I suspect City have more opposition than support. I think it would be foolish to think otherwise.

Those are the numbers of staff in each category (112 and 202) not the total wage costs for each category which are listed immediately below in the report.
