I agree with you. I'm not clear if your ire is aimed at scruffy Jim or Martin Samuel’s article. I'm not sure the article from Martin Samuels gives any different message to his previous articles. He's now pointing out that scruffy Jim feels the rules (that United helped create through David Gill) are wrong and will harm the premier league. I think Samuel's is pointing out the hypocrisy of the situation without actually stating it. Scruffy Jim is clearly at odds with Glazers imho

In theory only if it's leaked as it should be a private matter. Should there be a revisit to the rules at the next PL meeting and City's accounts show a cash injection from PL you can draw your own conclusions, same if nothing changes.

As we know, the football press works on behalf of the other PL clubs, especially the Red Shirt clubs. There’s no way the other 19 PL clubs and their representatives at the PL meetings are going to keep the decision a secret. The representatives will have to be informed by the PL about the decision as any compensation paid to City affects their clubs. They will have to pass that information on to the owners and directors of the other 19 PL clubs. Somewhere along that line, and further down that line, maybe, the decision will be leaked.
