City Matters thread

@jrb

The club will be launching a comprehensive page that covers the construction works for the North Stand extension when the works kick off properly over the autumn. They’re looking at various forms of content.

Briiliant. Cheers Alex.

PS. Let's hope the club updates the page more often than the City Matters minutes page. ;-)

As anyone asked the question officially why are ticket office are crap ?
I am unable to print at home 1 of the 3 season card tickets AGAIN. looks like I will have to phone them up again I've had to phone every home match this season each time being assured its all sorted now getting a ticket shouldn't be so stressful.

Tell them it's never been the same since Bernard Halford was running it.......

Of course, such targets aren’t the only way to measure the effectiveness of a group and we cannot always foresee pressing issues in advance (who would have thought that fan experience at the Champions League would have been one last season, for example)
Alex, sorry I have missed your posting of the minutes.
I agree with the above but having a standing topic such as 'match going experience and fan safety whilst attending matches home or abroad' would ensure there is a focus on it. Lets face it, we may be faced with these experiences on a more regular basis.
On the subject of Istanbul, what does this extract from the minutes mean:

City Matters reiterated the points made within their report and requested that the Club make a public statement acknowledging the difficulties faced by fans. The Club reaffirmedits commitment ensuring that learnings are taken forward by UEFA and applied to future finals.

The second sentence doesn't really relate to the first. Has the club confirmed they will make a public statement or are they waiting for the engagement with UEFA to determine next steps?

Thanks for the job you are doing.

Fair point on the standing item. Definitely one for the ticketing sub-group.

In regards to your second point, we questioned why they hadn’t made a statement at our last meeting given that it had been quite some time since I published the report. Their view was that they didn’t want to issue anything until they had engaged with UEFA (I disagree, but anyway). On a similar note, I have a meeting with UEFA and the club this week.

As I mentioned a few weeks ago, I tried to get in touch with all Manchester MPs (and others thanks to some on Bluemoon). Despite some frustrating responses, I’ve had encouragement from Jeff Smith, Mike Kane and Lucy Powell - although it is annoying the latter has lost her shadow sports brief.

I think what I am struggling with, and we’ll see where the UEFA meeting goes, is proper action beyond these initial steps.

Thanks. The clubs participating in a final have a duty of care to their support. To me that means they have a right of sign off of transport, access catering and risk plans for the host venue. Maybe that’s in place already (in which case we didn’t do a great job) but if it’s not it should be. City make a great splash about the importance of the fan experience at the Etihad. They need to apply that to neutral venues and all away fixtures. (In my view). If we reach future finals then they should present plans to you guys. The whole thing just needs increased scrutiny to stop the obvious debacles.

Fwiw I’m my view the club could have commented on the facts surrounding Istanbul without pissing in UEFA chips. That they didn't is pretty shameful.

Thanks for all your time, effort and support with this.
As you know my MP is one of those who fobbed off their constituents.
I expected UEFA not to give a toss but like so many who were subjected to the shitshow in Istanbul, to say I am very disappointed with the lack of ant action either verbally or practically from the club is an understatement.
I know you have to be careful about what you say as you're still communicating with the club about this.
I'm getting the distinct impression that the club don't give a toss and I'm sure it's extremely frustrating but your efforts are greatly appreciated.

The final is staged at a venue selected and approved by UEFA the tournament organisers. I agree City should have an input to the arrangements but do they actually have that right or have you (and others) made it up?
I don't believe City are blameless and the silence from the club implies they don't give a shit about those who travelled, but did they ever have an input?
