City Matters thread

Sounds poor at Arsenals. We are having a few shit ends. Little atmosphere Vs Sheff Utd (until the winner) and a wolves too. I think many Blues scapegoating Kalvin Phillips and Cole Palmer (during his transfer) hasn’t helped the atmosphere. We aren’t unified atm.

I wasn’t at Arsenal but I would let the Derby go 100% to points and then I’d be guaranteed a ticket, if I wanted to go.

With respect, that's a load of rubbish. What it is is that each of the away ends, Burnley aside, don't owe to a good atmosphere.

Wolves and Sheff U are spread a long way across with no roof to bounce off meaning chants don't travel well and at Arsenal, you're surrounded by home fans above and to the sides. There's exceptions at all 3 of those grounds but usually they are a tough gig to get going.

Anyone believing that the supporters club is there to challenge the club is misguided
Wasn't the unofficial supporters club (can't remember the actual name, possibly independent supporters club) formed about thirty years ago as the officials had a clause in their constitution forbidding criticism of the club. This was at a time when most fans wanted the removal of PJS but the supporters club couldn't support the motion.

I actually thought the atmosphere was good at arsenal maybe it was just where I was stood constantly singing in my block. And I always find the atmosphere at wolves pretty poor due to the lay out

Centenary supporters club I think it was called

How many excuses do you want. The away end should be loud every week.

Only once do I ever remember us having a good atmosphere at Wolves (de Bruyne midweek masterclass the other year).

Wolves forum were saying we were the best they’ve ever heard because usually every set of away fans are rubbish there due to the shallow tier. It’s a perfect away end for the home club there at Wolves, it’s almost impossible to get a good atmosphere going if you’re away fans, unless the home crowd are quiet (which is seldom as they’re one of the best in the Prem).

There are far too many daytrippers in our Arsenal, Chelsea and Spurs away ends… we’re always shite there n’all. It’s a disgrace that so many non-City fans get to land tickets for our away games, but it’s rife for London aways.

Yes the layout at Wolves isn’t great for away fans: That said, no atmosphere at Sheff Utd for most of the game and our end was full of regulars. 2 guys behind me at Wolves did nothing but moan the whole game. They weren’t tourists. There wasn’t a great vibe at Wolves and I think that’s partly because some spoilt fans just have a negative outlook.

Did Arsenal and Wolves go to about 18k. Plus all the 18-25, pull through tickets etc. credit to the Blues who get behind the team regardless.

For what it's worth, I could hear our fans several times on Sunday when watching the game on TV at home. I'd actually argue that I could hear our fans more times than I did back in February when we won 3-1, and some of the previous matches too. Not done Arsenal away myself since the 2016/17 season but even back then the away end was populated with a lot of touristy types and it was impossible to get any songs going from where I was. I'd imagine it's probably even worse for our games at the Emirates these days so to get any kind of atmosphere going is a decent effort.
