City Matters thread

Who is 'the club' in this case? Who is actually giving the instruction on a significant percentage of the small away allocation to be given to what I call 'non-regulars'?
No idea but someone is taking the away allocation and carving it up in a way that suits the suits so to speak and not the fans. Arsenal away end was a joke, this will be even worse. The club refuses to be transparent on away ticket allocation but it blindingly obvious that 'customers' are receiving tickets for away games before points holders. I suspect many at Arsenal wouldn't have been able to name to team even once they were on the pitch.

Who at the club thinks carving the away tickets up to “customers” is a good idea? Surely any revenue generated in the grand scheme of things is minuscule in comparison to turnover. Surely having vibrant away ends that can be heard clearly on TV is better for the clubs brand, than squeezing an extra few quid out of a few people.

I file this under the category of £45 kid’s tickets and fastest finger first free-for-all’s for in demand fixtures. So short sighted, looking to make a quick buck now, but with no regard for the long term implications. Surely somebody needs to get a grip of this and sort it out.

Yep. And as much as United fans despise their owners, at least their club is transparent about away allocations to the point that they not only give the exact split as to what has gone where, but they also state how many fans applied in the first place

Not so transparent about home tickets it seems. They were all going mental last week that they reckon the club were selling directly to Galatasaray fans in the home end for £85 a pop.

Wasn't the unofficial supporters club (can't remember the actual name, possibly independent supporters club) formed about thirty years ago as the officials had a clause in their constitution forbidding criticism of the club. This was at a time when most fans wanted the removal of PJS but the supporters club couldn't support the motion.
Don't recall a clause in the constitution but what started it off was at the height of the Swales campaign Frank Horrocks was in the MEN claiming the the OSC had 100% support for Swales.
I had a letter in the MEN published, stating that as a member I wasn't consulted and neither was the branch I was in consulted about whether or not I supported Swales.

At the next OSC committee meeting at the social club a vote of no confidence in Swales was asked to be taken and susequently refused.
Eleven branches resigned on the spot and the Independent Supporters Club was formed and backed Franny Lee.

I think the leading branches were Chadderton, Yorkshire and Reddish.
@yorkblue may be able to add to it.

I wrote about it in the fanzine Blue Print at the time, with what was my favourite headline to anything i wrote "The little (closed) shop of Horrocks"

Probably because they can make more money from home tickets! In any case, how easy was it for a Galatasaray fan to get a ticket for last week's match at Old Trafford? I'm guessing that if they coughed up an initial £35 or so for a membership then that would give them some kind of chance to access tickets. It also wouldn't have helped that United have had an indifferent start to the season meaning demand would've been lower amongst home fans which in itself creates a vacuum for the Galatasary fans to take up the slack. Anyway, the point is that there's no need for City to indulge in profiteering from away tickets because what they can make is a literal drop in the ocean compared to the overall turnover. Plus they risk pissing off a significant section of our most loyal fans into the bargain.
