City Matters thread

I wonder if Angela Worrall, the SC rep, was on board with those CM requests? She refused to sign the CM statement opposing this season's price increases as she was happy with the price of her SC.
I recall someone on here the other week saying she was entitled to her view! While that's true, when you represent tens of thousands of people you need to be putting forward the views of those people first and foremost. I don't know Angela but from the snippets I have read over the past several months, it doesn't appear to me that she's fulfilling her duty of representing SC holders.

Surely she is there to represent the views of the majority of her constituents, regardless of her personal opinion.
Of course she should. I'm happy with the price of mine as a FOC in SS3 only buying one but many other supporters are paying far more and for family members too. The club is pushing as hard as it can to increase ticketing revenue year on year and supporter groups need to oppose this as much as possible.

It's telling that CM published this publicly on their X account to ensure fans know the points have been raised. Especially so early in the season. They're wanting to get a head start so ticket prices aren't sprung on us with no time to react (like what happened last season).

I think, on this one, we can't single Angela out because the post has gone out on behalf of CM as a group (of which she is part). It's not named the supportive and unsupportive reps, so IMO, that shows all reps are on board, right?

Well hopefully she has reflected on her lack of support a few months ago.

Fingers crossed. I firmly believe the club work on a divide and conquer strategy with price rises. Some fans have minimal rises and other extortionate. It disrupts our fanbase from having a unified voice. It's absolutely integral that we fight price rises and ensure the normal, working class fan can attend games.

Flexigold is a much bigger issue in my opinion and their second tweet in that thread says the club only plan to offer FG seasoncards going forward - £150 price rise by stealth!

There’s a danger mate that the continued criticisms of flexi-golds are what one could describe as Angela Worrell behaviour. The vast majority of Blues seem happy with their flexi- golds, would welcome a reduction in the start up
Payment, but are being told by pressure groups that their memberships or season cards are second rate. Is this the “tyranny of the minority” lol.

Btw I’m in favour of a mixture of full season cards and flexi goods in the expanded North Stand. If Blues can show they want to attend the vast majority of home games, including matches against the “lesser teams” in midweek, they have earth a season card.

I think you are over egging the criticism of Flexi Golds actually. Clearly they are far superior for those supporters who want to go to most or all games as the saving on match day prices is huge plus they are guaranteed the same seat for every game. Those on here that got one or more of the 600 released for this season were delighted for obvious reasons. The fact is though that the club has reduced the overall numbers of SCs/Flexis in the last few seasons as more can be made selling at match day prices. Also a Flexi Gold has an additional 'fee' attached to it and it isn't exactly the same as a traditional SC. It is a great solution for the commercial management of the club.....less benefits for more money.

I've spoken to 3 1894 members who are all FG card holders and all three reiterate the point that they would prefer a normal seasoncard. They got their FG card to 'get on the ladder'.

I honestly do not understand any benefit to FlexiGold (compared to a normal SC). I've yet to hear a valid argument in their favour. My views are:

- they are more expensive (£150 if you attend every game)
- they are less flexible (you have to sign in 3 weeks early and buy a ticket for every game)
- you cannot transfer to friends/family for league games
- no access to ticket exchange for league games

Flexigold is far less flexible and more expensive. It's the only option to many fans who've never had a seasoncard so they don't understand why it's worse (they are comparing FG to a matchday membership).

If the club offered every seasoncard holder the chance to change their ticket to FlexiGold, I honestly think less than 1% would. If the club truly wants to offer flexibility, give fans the choice of FG or normal SC OR as a minimum, drop the £150 charge.

Exactly, great post. Flexigold is better than a match day membership. It's absolutely not comparable to a seasoncard though.

It’s been a great solution for many fans too. There’s several Blues, including young families, on my Supporters Club coach that are delighted to
Have flexi- golds. They wouldn’t be able to make all midweek games so the flexi-golds are ideal. City just need to reduce the set payment.

It’s easy to be Grinches telling other Blues that they have non or second class season cards when in fact they are ideal for many people.

People will criticise the season card rep on City Matter with just cause but turn a blind eye to assuming fans views on flexi-golds / accidentally misrepresenting them
