City Matters thread

Been made aware this evening of the communication fans have received with regards to the 10/16 game attendance policy, city matters were not aware of the clubs plans to send out this communication. Please contact me, the season ticket rep or any rep with issues/concerns/feedback as we will take it directly to the club and look to solve as many issues as possible

Is that not the same as this season? Was it expected to change??

No, I think this is about people who will make the threshold with the 2 games still to be played being told they are to be downgraded to flexi gold as they haven't met the 10 games rule. Also, people who have met the 16 games threshold by putting their tickets on the exchange being told they are being downgraded. Maybe other situations too where the ticket office have been hasty in sending out their 'we want you out' emails.

there seem to be two types of email;
1) advising of a renewal date on 14th May + notification to register a move to the NS if you are interested.
2) offering a flexi card renewal in cases where haven’t met the personal attendance criteria although based on feedback there seems a cut off of 7 games attended (if you have attended 8 you got email 1).
That’s the way I read the feedback on here today.

I have attended 7 so far and got email 1, not the downgrade to flexi. Checked with two other mates, same 7 games attended and same email 1 for them two as well. So maybe a different criteria? All of us did manage 16 games though i.e. either put on exchange, transferred or attended, so maybe criteria for getting email 1 or email 2 isn’t 7 or 8 games but something else?

It’s confusing. Maybe to get email 2 it was 7 games attended or less but others not managed through transfer or exchange. Who knows. Maybe Lee from City Matters can throw light on it.

If you've been to 7 then you've a chance of making it ten, hence email 1. Perhaps the club has a point if you are attending fewer than half the home games.
Having said that, we've had a load of home cup games; are the club ignoring the loyalty shown by ST holders who see fewer than 10 PL games but make up for it by attending cup games?

The changes or reverting back to how things were with ticket transfer are welcome.

Not something that effects me, but I haven't seen anybody mention it yet. I've noticed they've slashed the 12 games guaranteed refunds down to just 5. Think everybody suspected them to reduce it from 12 with the reduced demand this year. Quite the cull though and I imagine we can all guess which 5 games they'd be.

Thanks for the extra info
Would of been useful if the club had shared all the communication first with CM
I can see why it’s confusing, comms from the club still an area that needs real work and focus.
The only email I received personally was the one regarding renewing my season ticket

Tbf anyone using the ticket exchange even close to 12 times wasn’t giving a shit about fans who were priced out. Instead they were reinforcing excessive match day ticket prices.

I'd noticed this year they didn't list the games in advance prior to the season starting like they did previously which makes sense from their perspective.

It'd be quite the accomplishment using it 12 times to be honest as you'd have to be very organised as to know which games counted. I had no idea (apart from the obvious ones) as I wasn't looking out for them. Think they were sort of mentioned in an email a month before the fixture?

A mate of mine in Reddish blues had a City rep at a recent meeting. He was saying that the rep told him there is a big issue at City with season ticket holders non attendance with as much as 50% for some games….more than any other PL team. That’s staggering if true.

On the one hand we want to keep prices down but not be so low that some can afford to buy a season ticket and just go to a handful of games effectively hoarding. I don’t know if seat exchanges were factored in.

It’s third hand info so could be incorrect of course but might explain some of the emails.

If it’s true I wonder why….is it long standing season ticket holders who just can’t make it but don’t want to lose the season ticket they have had for decades?

I know City make more money from match day tickets but the club may also be concerned that the new generation are in some way blocked from buying one? I could be way off here. I had a season ticket for 25 years but not for the last 20. I liked having a book where you just tore the page out rather than having to have a smartphone!

Corky seemed to have his eye on the ball with knowing which guaranteed refunders were left.

It’s a bit strange jumping from 12 to 5 like you said. The Exchange was getting over used but City thought it was underused before last season. That said 12 was definitely unsustainable .

Media Relations and Communications

Communications with fans and relations with the media are evidently key aspects which City need to focus on.

There is so much that the the club does very well yet the negatives still seem to dominate. There are so many achievements of the club on and off the pitch that can be promoted.

Some of the communications issues arise from the complex rules and requirements that the club has put in place which affect many different types of supporter. Simplifying the rules, thinking through the implications from a fans perspective and consulting will help. For balance, running an operation of City`s size and complexity is a huge task.

KEEP IT SIMPLE, then communications can become clearer.

The renewal information that I received was straightforward and well set out.

In my defence I used to sell for FV on here up until this season but the club put a stop to that.
