Club ownership

Manchester City Football Club is owned 100% by His Highness Sheikh Mansour Bin Zayed Al Nahyan.

End of, unless you're accusing our owner of lying.

Yes, that's a completely unbiased source.

Essentially, Abu Dhabi Royal Family are the major investors behind Aabar, ADTA, Etisalat, Ferrostaal, and Etihad.

If I were you, I'd be really careful in implying that the al Nahyans engage in any human rights abuses. There is no basis to this whatsoever, just a report that they are assembling a personal army. The US military is guilty of severe human rights abuses and has no doubt played a significant role in training/outfitting the UAE's armed forces and the armed forces of many countries.

We are owned de facto by the royal family of Abu Dhabi. The pool of wealth we draw from mostly comes from oil and natural gas wealth.

The UAE is generally considered a shining example of progressive thought in relation to the other states in the region, and that is satisfactory to me. It's telling that there are few if any protests against the rule of the al Nahyan family. They are actually good rulers.

Damn it, should have quoted this instead. Well said that man.

Why does it say on the OS that Mansour 100% owns the club, when we have our manager thanking a completely different guy as part of our "owners"? Why was this edited out of the comment on the OS?

Mancini never thanked them as "owners". He just thanked them. Khaldoon included who doesn't own the club.

As an earlier poster says Mansours wealth is by defacto sovereign oil money, so I am not sure the distinction between personal and State ownership holds any merit.

There is a massive amount of misunderstanding regarding the oil money, Sheikh Mansour may of made his money from oil but it is HIS money, he owns 100% of city through his money.

The soverign wealth fund is often VASTLY misquoted and misunderstood because it is not cold hard cash sat in a pot, it's millions of pounds invested in assets, ie actual real things that have value.. Companies, buildings etc. The soverign wealth fund is controlled in Abu Dhabi by the ADIA of which Mansour is only a director and has no access to for personal use.

ADUG also does not exist it was a buying front for Sheikh Mansour, as an investment vehicle(company) it is better known now as Aabar.

Note how I did not say "sovereign wealth fund" or "ADIA". I said sovereign oil money, of which Mansours wealth comes from.

So you are accusing them of being biased (therefore not telling the whole truth) ?

Hang on did we not go through a 'due dilligence' check before the arab takeover? Durely a pretty damn thorough one after the Thaksin farce??

Not even really sure what the point of this thread is.

Only City fans can snatch defeat from the jaws of 'victory' in unseemly fashion and give, yet another reason for tabloid bashing to this illustrious club.

I would suggest, Damo, that your conclusion be 100% air tight, rather than publishing as you think and not bring unnecessary (and perhaps) unfounded attention to a fantastic season.

At the end of the day, who knew Mancini would be really good friends with al-Mubarak, who is in turn good friends with the Sheik? So, therefore, is it not possible Mancini knows Sheik Mohammed in other capacities linked to the club, other than ownership??

I dunno, I'm kicking around thought process like you, Damo, but I'm not potentially damaging the club with unfounded speculation.
