City players who polarised opinion

I tried hard to like Sibs and see his strong points but it was difficult. I often used to suspect he feigned injury if things got a bit tough during a game and another former player was definitely of the same opinion.
Keenan mainly playing him wide left crushed any confidence he came with, and he looked alright in his first season.

Sterling still in that camp now, he gets pelters. You can feel some fans waiting for him to drop a bollock...and wanting him to aswell.

I'd say Gareth Taylor. Though only I thought he was good.

How about Bony?

Half our fans thought he was a bit crap, the other half thought he was utter wank

Ha, I'm somewhere in the middle.just glad he's no longer with us. Getting back to dividers I thought Bellamy was harshly thought of by a fair few supporters.Personally I thought he was class and I always felt a belief that we would score when he was on the pitch, same with Anelka and Tevez.

I thought Bellamy was great. If there was ever a player who fitted the "Love him if he plays for you, hate him if he plays against you" ... it was him

Well away at Port Vale, he and Ian Brightwell werent playing and came and sat in front of us in the away end, club blazers and all, when if you hate Man Utd clap your hands started up, Bobby was on his feet clapping along and at the repeated clap at the end, he clapped right in Nicky's face, who wasnt clapping at all. He definitely also said he was a scum fan as a child.

I had a good old chat with him and he certainly spoke as a fan. I've met one or two over the years... Someone doesn't sing or clap so they're not one of us. Profound.

Where have I put that someone who doesnt sing or clap is not one of us? Rather than having a condescending dig by sarcastically calling me profound, I suggest you read the post that you quoted again, it was the way Bobby clapped in his face, grinning as he did it btw, which more than suggested he was a rag, in addition to him stating he was a rag when he was a child, much to his dad's dismay. This doesnt mean he doesnt have a soft spot for us, having played for us.

I'd add Clichy. Or Cliché as Trevor Francis insists on calling him.

Absolutely inept going forward and quite inept at defending. And yet, bizarrely, rated by some.

Not totally inept. Have yer forgotten the goal v Norwich? Summat like a six pass move and he was on the goal end of it! I think Gael has seen his best years but he's as good as a good number of PL FBs still!

Edin Džeko still dont get why so many hated him, a scorer of so many important goals city. I loved the guy so sad when he left.

I wouldn't say people hate him as much as he tarnished his own reputation.

For me, he is a modern day legend of our club but one who ruined our view of him when he put in a garbage season followed by being an utter mard arse when we stayed to clap them off at the end of the season.

De Jong. An average footballer without a brain on the field. The Dutch Scott Parker.

Good shout. Seemed to be the minority opinion until he wanted away though.

Richard Dunne O.G. had his fans. No doubt he gave it his all but not always in the right direction.

David James - absolutely shite keeper, you needed to score twice if he was in goal cos he was always going to fuck up at least once a game.

Richard Dunne - I just don't see what people saw in him, effort 200% productivity -100%, you can't win games on effort alone, you do need some skill.

Jesus Navas - nice guy by all accounts but delivers the square root of fuck all.

Craig Belamy - again a good player with great effort but too much of a shit stirrer, always had too much to say.

You may be surprised to learn you are not on your own. I knew a guy who thought he was really good, always Remember him trying to convince me Gareth was the reason we beat the Gills at Wembley. The only game I remember him doing OK was when we beat Stoke 2.1 over the Xmas period, think he got both goals.
Do you live in Mossley and like real ale and cricket? If so it is just you.

Balotelli for sure in recent years. Him with Tevez workrate would be a frightening player. Mad Mario did have some terrific moments (Why Always He, Italy v Germany and a certain assist to Aguero) but he didn't always deliver. I found his behaviour to be puerile. That of an attention seeking child. A spoilt one too.

Anelka always struck me as being a wanker. Goals aside, he'd given up before he left for Turkey and his career finishing with an anti-Semitic gesture spoke volumes. Perhaps Jewish people haven't suffered enough over the years.
True.... but, when we got that injury time penalty against Spurs he was fabulous, we had to win that game and he was as cool as the preverbial.... He sure had his moments and that one is up there with the Agüero moment.

ooo Craig Bellamy, there's a good one.

in my opinion he was an overhyped gob who rarely delivered decent performances
