big fat bobby taylor

always thought we looked better when he was in the side !

Good shout - very underrated and intelligent player. Only problem was his fitness.

Others worthy of a mention:

Ian Brightwell
Carl Griffiths
Richard Edghill (Don't tell Johnny Maher I said that!)

you are on johnnies list for that one without a doubt

fitzroy simpson, carl griffiths, andy hill (although not sure others didn't like him), tony adcock (my 1st favourite player), michel vonk.

also remember a youth keeper called richard bibby. now i never once saw him play but recall seeing his name in a programme and instantly deciding he was going to be the new gordon banks. used to bring him up in arguments at school with reds. "you just wait until bibby gets in the first team. that's when we'll takeover". no idea why.

Always thought Ian Brightwell got a terrificly unfair about of stick, but I thought he was superb. He had a great engine and could run all day, he was a box to box goalscoring midfielder (even though his distribution wasnt best) For some daft reason we turned him into a cautious defender and never made the most of his talents which were boundless energy. Very rarely did he let us down, and he got a lot of poo from the Kippax.

I actually liked Kevin Reeves much to my dads annoyance!! Even had his number on my 1981 black and red Paul Power Freekick versus Ipswichesque City top. My Dad hated him, but I think it was to do with him costing money and being a suthnor.

Others who didnt come of great at the "fair crack of the whip from the fans" stakes even though I thought they were good...
Lucien Mettomo - good call
Jeff Whitley - ran his guts out for City unlike his bro who ran his guts out legging it from the boys in blue...allegedly
Gary Megson/Alan Harper - did a top job in keeping us up, despite one being a top drawer Ginge and the other resembling the back of the 234 along Reddish Road
Adrian Heath - was unfairly blamed for the treatment of Clive Allen and also never scoring but he was a decent player and a good foil for Lord Quinn

Funny how the vast majority of these players we liked individually but no-one else did have done very little since being at City... then again, there's not many who have played for us and gone on to bigger and better things (or maybe that's another topic!)

I remember Quinny used to get a lot of stick in his early days being with us

Bosvelt, although a few own up to liking him nowadays so maybe I wasn't on my own.
Yeah i liked Bosvelt in the end. He was gash in his first season, and the start of his 2nd, but then he had a bizzare second wind or something, completely out of nowhere, and actually became our most important midfielder for a while, in my opinion.

I for some unknown reason liked bernado Corradi and thought he was an excellent finisher as i had seen him in friendlies and training but that season he got no service. All my mates said he was one of the worst players to ever wear the shirt.

I was a bit too fond of Michelle Vonk

I had Vonk's name on the back of the red and black brother kit! I have no idea why, although i was only about 6 at the time! I remember meeting him on some junior blues event, and i was wearing my Vonk shirt. I walked up to him to get a picture, and showed him the back of my kit. I've never seen a human being look more surprised than Michel did at that moment. He clearly wasn't used to seeing fans wearing his name! He looked seriously confused.
