City removing seats

You'd think the daft bastards would pick their battles at a time when the fans aren't allowed to be there. Nope, instead they shit on some of them with this.

Meanwhile, over the road at the swamp, they're actually doing something positive for their fans by installing rail seats. We won't do that as it doesn't make commercial sense..

Honestly, we're becoming what we mocked for all those years.

the amount of money we have to generate is why we have do things like this yes we moan and kick off
but this is the new manchester city and winning silverware and buying world class players has to come from the club making its own money and not the owners wealth. annual revenue has to add up each season and keeping city debt free is going to be hard in the next couple of years

i also understand the rail seating has not been given the full ok and it will take time to see others views and how it works in the premier league ? fuck me its bad enough with the rules in sitting down and being nice with the stewards so having fans standing up drunk and being dick heads well good luck with that one

Just had the following from city, they are removing the front few rows from the family, east and south stands (yes the ones the added in a few seasons ago) for the 4th time i have had to move through no choice of my own.

Important Information: Installation of pitchside digital signage

The Club will shortly begin installing new digital signage in the lower stadium bowl. This installation will sit behind the existing pitchside digital signage at Level One of the Family Stand, East Stand and South Stand.

This installation forms part of the Club’s ongoing development works to enhance the Etihad Stadium following the expansion of the South Stand. More recent developments include the installation of a new Public Address system, new floodlight infrastructure, The Ardwick Pub in the South East corner and the Club’s sensory room, which is designed for children who require additional sensory support to enjoy the matchday.

In order to complete the digital signage installation and ensure the Club is able to remain compliant with stadium safety guidelines, we regret to inform you that a small percentage of seats - allocated to Seasoncard holders and match by match supporters - will be removed from the stadium, including your current Seasoncard seat.

Although we continue to play matches behind closed doors, we felt it was important to write to you now to ensure you have time to consider the various relocation options available to you ahead of the 2021/22 season. Please note that you will also be given relocation priority ahead of the Seasoncard renewal period.

We hope the information below will provide answers to any initial questions that you may have. However, should you have any additional questions or wish to discuss this further, please contact Supporter Services on +44 (0)161 444 1894 (option 1). We are open Monday to Friday, 9am until 5pm, opening at 10am on Thursday. (closed weekends and Bank Holidays).

Thank you for your understanding and continued support.

Yours sincerely,

Why can’t I stay in my existing seat?

Unfortunately, this is not possible. We need to remove seats for the installation and to provide clear sightlines for those that remain. In order to accommodate all elements of the project, your seat will need to be removed and will no longer be available for purchase.

What alternative seat options will be available when I can renew my Seasoncard?

You will have a priority window to relocate to any available general admission seat after all Seasoncard holders have renewed. Available seats will not be sold to other supporters until those affected by the installation of the new digital signage have had the opportunity to select and purchase their new Seasoncard seat. You will be advised of the dates and times of this priority window as part of the Seasoncard renewal process.

What price will I have to pay for my Seasoncard?

You will pay no more than your 2019/20 Seasoncard price and you will be given relocation priority at the time of renewal. Should the seat you select be less than the price you paid for 2019/20 then you will pay the lower price. This is for any available general admission seat when you can renew and for the subsequent season. After that time, you will pay the full prevailing rate for the seat you have selected.

What if a friend or family member is not impacted but wants to relocate with me?

Impacted supporters will be given relocation priority. We will work with all supporters within the group, including non-impacted Seasoncard holders*, to find the best solution (subject to availability).
They just think you are a **** Mcnil.

I agree, you are a ****

For what will it profit a man if he gains the whole world and forfeits his soul?
We are still talking about sitting in the front rows of a stadium watching men kick a bag of air around, right?

“...forfeit your soul?”!

Bit hyperbolic.

Commercial choices are not usually so overwrought, but to each their own.

They were quite a bit cheaper. £400 for the cheapest and £500 for others. Our season ticket prices are different for each block pretty well, depending on how near the centre line the seats are.

There's even bands within blocks, with 3 different bands, depending on how far back you are. Personally I think that's daft but when your CEO used to run an airline then I suppose we should be grateful we aren't charged to have a fast-track system for getting into the stadium and the block itself.

The concrete overhangs on the level 1 will be fitted with over-head baggage lockers soon. Soriano will start charging for those as well.

Every now and again I have a thought. What will Soriano and the other directors come up with next to increase revenue, which will further impact on an already financially stretched fanbase?

I suppose when you are earning 7 and 6 figures salaries a year, that thought and rational doesn’t really come into your thinking.

Safe standing, if it comes in, will be on the basis of 1:1 with the current number of seats so will not increase capacity or reduce prices.

How the stadium would be expanded to provide tens of thousands extra capacity is beyond me. The fact that the club is prepared to uproot up to 1000 SC holders in order to put in additional advertising is a disgrace in my view and I can't see how anyone can defend it.

Replicating the expansion we already have at the opposite end adds about 7000 I think and it’s not that long ago people where talking very seriously about doing all the stands Also how is it one for one when they are smaller and the grounds in Germany seem to have a few more seats with that

Fans want better players but not have to pay for it and now they do not want advertisers to pay for it

Do you think ticket revenue pays for the players wages? Or new signings?

is there not enough advertising? Or does the astronomical tv revenue not cover that
