City Square open for testing

i think city square is a work in progress and come the winter things can be added like outside heaters and beer garden type brollies, so you can still enjoy your beer and scran...i hope so anyway

Have to say in the sunshine looks fine but with an hooligan blowing in the middle of december pissing down with rain and freezing cold is anyone really going to sit under those brollies to have a drink.

Maybe they will put heaters in like they do in the smoking areas of pubs! Try did that at Copenhagen when we played over there

Looking at the stanchions in the drinks area it looked as if they have got some of those 'overhead' heaters ready. Not sure about the Blu Moon Cafe area because I didn't look but the Star Bar area definitely had them.

Let's be positive about this, it is a step forward and do you know of any other club that goes to this trouble? Apart from the bars etc for the corporate people. This development (City Square) is for the ordinary fans and I for one applaud the club.

I was also lucky enough to be invited along and it was a very pleasant experience. The food was good and there was a good variety of it without being over the top (didn't see any prawn sandwiches for example) :-) The prices were up on the screen and seemed to be reasonable. Not sure about the drinks prices as I didn't see them but all in all a good addition to a match day experience I would say.

Yes it will obviously be different in the depths of a Manchester winter but you have to give the club credit for their efforts to help the fans.

Thank you everyone involved.

So what was the prices then? Can you tell us a few..

Xmas markets are excellent in the dead of winter. A few pints and nobody will care about a little rain.

What beers were on tap at the bar? same as last season inside the ground?
Singa is no more, Heineken is now on tap. I was driving and asked what soft drinks were available in the bar area, to be told "None" so if you take the missus along to drive you she will need to sit in the cafe area, which is a nice touch... (hope she don't read this)

Aha, now that would involve me having a memory!! *lol* but they did range between £1.00 to £4.00!! Sorry, I didn't really take the prices in that much.

Sweenyuk, they had some soft drinks in the Star Bar, there were the usual Sprite, Coke etc plus a few more I think. Were you in the Summerbee bar area?

The price's are the same as in the ground ie, £3.60 for fosters, bitter and cider (pint). the food was 100% better than they have in the ground and the price's are the same as in the ground.... but more choice. Well done City should be great on match days!!

It'll put some people off the price I think. I'll try it out tomorrow and see if its worth going alot.

Sorry people my post above I should have put a smilie face at the end, I think it is a brilliant idea and if we had a mediteranean climate it would be just dandy, but in the NW it does have a tendancy to rain a bit. No doubt there will be the heaters, just wanted a little reassurance that the brollies cover thingy me bobs were big enough. :-)

Pub and chippy for me in that case.
