I have been following city since 2003-2004, when Fox Soccer Channel and goltv(news, since they didn't cover epl games live) became available to me. Before that, I just sat back and appreciated the beautiful game, on any channel i could watch, or old vhs tapes, showing highlights of world cups or English championship from the 70s-80s-90s(when espn showed champions league games).
I've also got Sirius radio in 2006 and loved the soccer channels/talk shows, although there are still a lot of idiots allowed to cover a sport they obviously know little about, guess gotta take the good and the bad.
I flew out to West Virginia on Monday right after the game(right after, scheduled my flight accordingly) to coach football(soccer) here with my brother, who coaches college soccer. Last night while coaching under 12 boys, kid had a berbatov jersey on, fat fXXX, square built, had ok touch on the ball, but it was so funny i was tempted to take a pic and post it, he fits the manure fan mold, and they can have him. I don't usually pull out my man city jersey except special occasions(game day, flights, etc) but i will need to teach these kids where its at, they are at that age where corruption sneaks in, and manure tries to turn them as fans, well this corner of the world will know Manchester City by the time i'm done coaching at the end of the month! FUCK MANCHESTER UNITED, i even told my brother, i don't want to work with that fat fuck next practice, i know he is just a kid, but as long as he doesn't wear his deserving man united, berbatov(i had to laugh at the irony, of the has been shirt, has been name) clothing, then i'd be happy to help teach him the game.
the old "world soccer-> then world football daily" show was very supportive of manchester city, even if they followed chelsea and rangers respectively. Outside of that, Bobby on the fox soccer report on FSC breaks games down with a fair eye, and i think he almost leans city's way as well, and has for a while, they don't put as much propaganda as sky does, when i watch their reports, or the bbc for that matter.
espn announcers are horrible, i use to like Ian Drake, calling women's world cup, and I think that is a good match for him, he is all about stirring the pot, but he does put some enthusiasm when City score, Steve McManaman isnt as harsh on city, but they must have been told by their american bosses to ramble on like american announcers do, except the american sports are built at the highest level, for commercial breaks, so announcers are always rambling on about nonsense. It gets bad sometimes when they talk about gossip instead of the game.
BUT all that said, espn LOVE city, sportscenter, coverage of the epl, they know where the league is going, and i think they are jumping on early, as all season they've covered City a lot on ESPN/ESPN2, which is nice because i can replay the games online via espn3, or live if i am not near a tv.
