City To Be Presented With The PL Trophy If Champions On Sunday

The Club have already said that anyone caught invading the pitch will be subject to a ban. They should also consider civil actions against those involved to recover damages to pay for any fines imposed by the league as well as well as physical damage to the pitch, goalposts, advertising hoardings etc.

I have no issue with anyone having fun but can’t we all just enjoy watching the trophy presentation and lap of honour instead of allowing a few hundred people to ruin the enjoyment of the players, management and tens of thousands of fans.

Thats it, rant over.
Things have clearly changed since that dickhead Forest fan attacked Billy Sharp last season. That led to a clampdown on even good natured pitch invasions and as such I won't be going on the pitch on Sunday.

However, I find it more than a tad hypocritical that the club might take a dim view of this. Sure, as I've said things have changed and I wouldn't want them getting into trouble, but this is the same club that has been more than happy to include numerous pitch invasions by our fans in online video clips of important games in the past decade or so. Even to the point that they showed footage of City fans with flares on the pitch after we won the league against West Ham in 2014, yet on the same day my mate picked up a flare that someone else had set off after Kompany's goal, waved it above his head for 2 or 3 seconds, and promptly copped a 12 month ban! This despite him fully co-operating with the police who released him without charge.

It should die out now, before something more serious does happen. What happened at the other pitch invasions matters little because of what happened at the most-recent one. All it takes is one idiot and we're in serious trouble. The club are fully aware of this and won't take it lightly this time. If there is a pitch invasion and something bad happens (just one thing), you can be sure that the club will be issuing bans out like confetti. They won't be doing this just to punish our own fans, but to demonstrate to the FA that we now take these things seriously and have done all we can to handle it internally. This might serve as mitigation if we are punished.

As someone with a fear of fireworks (I had some thrown at me as a kid), I hate flares. The smoke bombs look okay but they're an accident waiting to happen. What if Ederson picks one up and lose his hand?

The stewards, security team etc are tied to laws. Without acting, those in jobs are also subject to scrutiny and overhaul. Sad as it is, the game has now got so sterile and a few eejits have ruined a joyous run onto the field. It isn't just at City, but arguably last season had too many stupid outcomes. Would you want our good stewards sacked? We have some friendly and fair stewards at City.

The Premier League, Greater Manchester Police, the FA, UEFA and the laws/rules/ground regulations apply to the ticket purchaser. Don't get me wrong, I'd love to jog onto the field but it hasn't ever been possible (third and second tier seats each occasion). A ban could save me money BUT would ruin going to the game, IF as it seems the world of football tightens and remains in a highly controlled fashion. Social conditions have become extreme for some and a small band of matchday attendees will not fear any consequences or punishments. I'd hate to see a return to fences, or have those pop up fences like at Wembley.

Also, on May 22nd, Manchester Remembers, and those who run onto the pitch have to keep in mind that since 2017, security and alert levels have been higher. New laws were passed this very year. The landscape has changed for fans. The safety of all is down to us all. As great as smoke bombs look, I've seen what damage they can do.
Players who could pick up a pyro smoke flare and lose a hand.

Proper Blues will recognise risks and control emotional responses. Running on the pitch like 2012 and 2022 were highly emotive games with amazing comebacks. City have 3 cracks at a whip to win the league, let's not burn our great name.

Could away fans from Chelsea join in and look for a rumble? Everything is possible. Or home fans at Brentford and Brighton... less likely, but how we act as fans will reflect on our already feable away ticket numbers, games in Europe and so on.

Only time I went on the pitch was at Maine Road after the Friday night "nearly promotion" game v. Birmingham. Players were all gone so for about five minutes I could pretend I was Uwe Rosler, then thought right, let's get to the bus stop and go home. A couple of years later when City got relegated there was an angrier "invasion" with fans confronting the Chelsea team. The last couple of seasons it's all looked a bit naff, people running on the pitch while the players were trying to get off it quickly and not have their backs thumped or be grabbed by a drunk. Expect some in the crowd will try that again on Sunday, expect some will find their season tickets have been withdrawn a few days later.
That Birmingham pitch invasion was fun. I got myself a nice chunk of Maine Road that evening and integrated it into my lawn and to my amazement it didn't die and grew in. They'll always be a corner on Linden Avenue, Alty that will be forever blue. And I agree with you on your other points.

A pitch invasion on Sunday in front of Chelsea has potential for kick off in stadium and out (not from our lot)

I've been on a couple of times at MR, Charlton and Birmingham games & did it at the West ham game.

As I'm in SS3 there's no option now but, with this title not being a 'big bang' win I'd not expect the same volume to try it anyway this time. Maybe a couple of thousand will go for it but if as usual the stewards don't do anything loads will probably amble on.

It does look ace from high up but, the club won't want it to happen and usually it takes too long to clear.
Is there realistically that the stewards can do to stop it? They’re not generally built like nightclub bouncers. If fans go onto the pitch in large numbers I can’t see them using force to try to stop them and they’d probably come off worse If they did. The club put them there in the hope that they’ll act as a deterrent. But in the event of a pitch invasion do they have any option other than to step out of the way?

I take it you`re only 17 or 18 years of age. Still ... children will be children.
Not all the players enjoy it, Goater for instance stood need the side so he could be off as soon as the whistle went at Blackburn. Also a couple of the players have really struggled with the numbers and only just managed not to drown because the security guys just held them above water so to speak (from my mate who used to do the technical area security). If we do it the authorities will want to make a big example of us this time!
