City to expand Etihad to 62,000?

The next generation of fans is key. My kids are aged between 10 and 18 and there’s been a considerable closing of the gap locally in terms of United and City in that age group. Another 10 years of success will really help the club but they need to make it accessible pricewise for under 18s in all areas of the ground

For anyone who missed this -
This was a brilliant idea – full marks to the PR dept.
Will help to spread the City message…………

Yeah but why wasn't Stockport town hall lit up for Phil Foden. OK they'll up the viaduct but why not the town hall...We need to know.
(Well no we don't actually but there you go... )
I do not know - but maybe the Viaduct is more of a landmark than "the Wedding Cake"....lol

"just design a proper roof that fits" Would require a brand new roof design with new foundations removing the existing roof all around and all the associated support structure, this would not be possible without closing the stadium for a least a year

Somehow doubt that an additional tier will be added to the side stands the cost would be out of the question and the spirals will get in the way far more complicated that the ends.

IMHO should have built a new stadium on north car park would have been better and more cost effective in the long run

It's not an additional tier. Basically it was padding out what is already there, making the third tier all the same height and then going into the corners

As for a brand new stadium. This has been dealt with a gazillion times on here
It would have meant buying the stadium and nearly all the purchase cost would have gone to Sport England. Where as the current rental agreement is that all the money goes to Manchester City Council and is ring fenced for sports facilities in Manchester

To our owner financially it would have been far more advantageous to build new, rather than developing COMS, but MCC would have missed a big revenue stream

More proof that City are serious about expanding the NS. As we know.

Even when looking at a model, that doesn't scream ADUG investment or stadium of " the best club in the world".

It's certainly not going to be on a brochure of Abu Dhabi's most impressive properties with The Chrysler building, Claridges, Etihad Towers etc. any time soon unless there's some insane facade job done when it's finally at the desired size.

Can't see the point in expanding if the club continue to raise prices. Get the pricing right and it's a full stadium for most games.
Totally agree - Get the pricing right. After the windfall that PL clubs got from TV rights all clubs could afford reducing prices.
For The Etihad I would suggest - 62,000 Stadium - 10,000 Corporates - 30,000 of current City fans (including Family)seated - 5,000 away fans
and 17,000 under 30 years of age (at no more than £300 per season ticket) -
supporting from the New expanded North Stand. - sorted

Listening to a few people in the know - I think the existing roof is fucked - so a new roof is going to be required at some point - even if it’s only patching this one up

“Padding out” is difficult due to the roof design the cable net system cannot be modified Look at the SW SE corners and the amount of complicated iron works that are required to support the modified roof I doubt very much many seats could be added in the corners Another small block was added at the end of the CB and East Stand during the South Stand expansion. I’m aware of the money paid for the lease and the ring fencing of the amount going to sport in Manchester but this shouldn’t hold back the club with respect to a stadium, look at Spurs’ new stadium light years ahead of ours

Yes it will be a lovely stadium but unfortunately for spurs after next season it'll only be two thirds full

As for ours and what could have been a total new stadium. When you hear the figures quoted for expansion, it seems it would have made more sense to build new and donate £3m a year to MCC
