City to expand Etihad to 62,000?

Any idea if/when the north stand will happen mate?

It one hundred percent will. They are just allowing pent up demand to build via our success. People are working on it I know that - I would say within 2 years a start but that is only an educated guess. Part of the strategy is to extend the city centre to the Etihad via the new university.

That’s the contractor for you - I agree. It was very rushed.

Yes, but not sure part of the contract was the decorative finish as its not been touched.

Always amuses me to see the date stamps, left by the specialist contractor used to fit the fire walls, on my way out of the ground.

You do it by having cheap tickets

And 3000 away ends are FAR too small, especially as you hear that City give away 1/5 of that (depending on the game) away to corporate.

Barcelona average 25000 empty seats, Real Madrid 18000, yet nobody ever seems to have anything to say about either of those clubs about it.

Dortmund is the size of Sunderland yet has the largest average attendance in Europe. Tickets are cheap, away end is big.
How many sides fill the away end? It's full because the away club returns the tickets, and City fans routinely fill it.

I would guess that the away attendance averages less than 2,000 in the Premier league

Victim of our own success i think. Smaller teams who probably fill their allocation at the swamp, anfield etc probably look at a trip to the etihad and think whats the point. Probably the only ground this season where clubs come with zero ambition than anything other than stopping a hammering, and more often than not it doesn't work. can't be much fun as an opposition fan to watch that.

Rag Cafe.

The old Old Trafford expansion thread.

They are a comical lot

First it's a United World PL tour until Old Trafford is expanded and rebuilt. Away teams would have to fly around the World to play United at home. And they are back to sharing and filling the Council house for 1 season.

Just the posts, no usernames.

1. Could City refuse us to ground share? Considering it's owned by the council.

2. It won’t happen but no, the council would decide.

3. City already briefed that they won't be against it. (that's news to City fans?)

4. Their dream of having a packed out stadium would become a reality (only on Sunday when we lift the PL trophy ;-) )

Watching the club leadership operate over time, I think they have their eyes on the long game. Empty seats next season or even 3-5 years won't be their worry. The plan is total and utter dominance so they are looking at it generationally. If this season can be replicated 7 out of the next 10 seasons and beyond, with European success thrown in, people will fill it.

The next generation of fans is key. My kids are aged between 10 and 18 and there’s been a considerable closing of the gap locally in terms of United and City in that age group. Another 10 years of success will really help the club but they need to make it accessible pricewise for under 18s in all areas of the ground

I’m not talking about the other teams filling the away end at City I’m talking about everywhere we go we must have 3000 fans who looked to get tickets for our away games but couldn’t because it was sold out.

We used to regularly take 4/5/6000 fans away from home in the second and third tier of this country. Every Prem away section is too small for City United Everton Liverpool Spurs Chelsea Arsenal Newcastle
