I come from Wigan and i'm still very annoyed that when it was built for the Commonwealth Games Wigan being a part owner thro the Greater Manchester conglomerate the people of our town along with all the other borough's objected to our rates albeit a small amount did not like the way the way it was flogged off to man cty at a knock down price ( similar whats happening to the Olympic stadium for west ham) its just not on!!. We the rate payers were never consulted only after (typical of council) This resentment I have is because they have a bloomin king to bank roll them ,so its a matter of its not what you know or who but if a king is your backer well everything gets pushed away its just not on !!!.

He might be very annoyed but he's still got Dave's legs to be proud of!!!

Ha ha i suppose Wigan is kind of part of Greater Manchester when it suits them!

He needs educating it was actually given to us and in return we gave the council the land Maine road stood on to build on.We also spent a fortune on making it fit enough to be a football stadium and agreed to pay rent on any crowds over 35 thousand.At the time it was a good deal for all parties.If we hadn't done the deal it would be a derelict building now awash with weeds.

If the council had been obstructive we are such a big club now we could have paid what was owed and built a new stadium,they know which side their bread is buttered!

After the club have released the promo I wouldn't be surprised if sky do a full clip of it, full of wonderful graphics and a detailed schedule of the build.

I very much doubt it. More likely it will be "oh, and Manchester City have said they're expanding their stadium" in a hushed voice.

Unless it's Mikey of course in which case he will shout it instead
