City to lay a wreath at scene of Munich air crash today.

That comment would work if the articles published quoting CITY mentioned that we are doing this in the memory of Frank - they do not. The comments from CITY are about the 'loss of Manchester' and for the entire world (apart from you it would seem) - the Munich aiir crash is synonymous with the loss to Manchester United

So cheap shot misses I am afraid
Who cares what the press think.

That's the reason why the club have done this. They can't pay respects to the loss of Swift without also paying respects to everyone else who died, can they.

Do you hate United THAT much you cannot just for a single moment allow City to show some class and pay their respects to a fallen player, a legend i might add, without focusing on how it's connected to that lot?

To be fair MB it is your post that implies that the death of Frank Swift is somehow more tragic than that of Duncan Edwards or Tommy Taylor. Yes, of course it is right that the club has remembered and respected those events, but the next candle lighting session should be on the 100th anniversary of the event.

Great gesture once again from our club, but let's draw a line in the sand regarding Munich.
Of course it was a tragic historical event and the nobheads who celebrated it by singing those shite songs over the years were bang out of order.
However,we paid our respects impeccably on the 50th anniversary and we're doing so again today. But, if I'm totally honest, I'm sick of hearing about it.

Agree 100%

Fuck knows why we keep pandering to their publicity machine of an air disaster. Yes it affected the people of Manchester. Yes Frank Swift lost his life in this tragedy but let's be honest this has got FUCK ALL to do with us.

God forbid if City suffered a similar disaster, would u****d respond in the same way as we as a club do about Munich. Don't kid yourself because we all know the answer to that. Would they fuck.

Munich happened over 50 years ago. If the twats from the swamp still want to wollow if their own self pity and cry crocidile tears whilst making the cash registers ring that's up to them but for fucks sake City leave it now, please just leave it.

Ermm noooo, i think you're reading into something that isn't there to create debate.

This is City's first visit to Munich professionally. Former Manchester City goalkeeper Frank Swift died in the disaster. City are paying their respects to him and everyone else who died, the same way that United pay respects to their lost playing and coaching staff and everyone else who died.

You are going off on a tangent so I will leave it.........

I RESPECT everyone's right to have an opinion - you, CTID1988 - and you perhaps should respect mine

I was clear as to my opinion in my first post - I think that it is an entirely valid opinion and I suspect it (or shades of it) is shared by many other blues

Oh and if my opinion is so wrong - why do you think the media have been straight over to the swamp to ask slur alex his view . I have not seen a single mention in the quotes of Frank apart from being tagged onto the comments on the loss of the Busby babes..

I choose not to get diverted down your narrow tangent
I could respect it...

...if it made any sort of sense.

"You don't like City paying respect to the Munich Air Disaster because it brings the topic up again and you're worried that it gives the press an opportunity to have a go at City or spin it so it makes the club look classless?"

Is that the gist of what you're saying? If so then yeah, i'll leave it at that. I and others personally think this is a grand gesture by the club. But each to his own.

Ok you tempted me,,, I was going to leave it but if I can put right your inability to read properly what is written without misinterpreting it to try and support your point it is probably worthwhile:

Instead of:

"You don't like City paying respect to the Munich Air Disaster because it brings the topic up again and you're worried that it gives the press an opportunity to have a go at City or spin it so it makes the club look classless?"

Try:

"You don't think that City should be making this gesture with regard to the Munich Air Disaster because it brings the topic up again and you're worried that it gives the press another opportunity to go on about the incident that the Manchester United club and their fans have exploited for self-serving purposes for 50 + years. They and their sycophants in the media have repeatedly done this whilst ignoring the reality of how they treated the family of the dead with outrageous contempt and with no trace of care and sympathy."

Is that clear enough for you? - I would have thought that it should have seemed obvious from my original post. As someone else has said - the next time this should be commemorated should be on a notable anniversary such as 75 or 100 years.

To give respect to your opinion - CITY would (IMO) be better doing something specific to the memory of Frank Swift, either at Munich or at our club - his being a victim as well is not something covered well by the rag obsessed media

Yes it's clear (I thought i'd already pointed that out), and i still believe your view on the matter is Rag obsessive.

Whereas others can move on and forget about the exploitation, you're still harbouring on about how 'unfair' it all is. Yes, we all know how Utd exploited the disaster. No, there is nothing we can do about it. Why does that have to affect what City do when THEY decide to pay their respects to the disaster in which the club has a connection to it?

Please, DON'T answer that.

At least they didn't make the mistake of forcing the players to trot out for this one.

Hopefully our delegation includes people who were alive at the time and actually care. Feels very PC though.

I imagine City wouldn't of done this if those chants of Istanbul and Munich weren't so worryingly vociferous last week.

Touch of normality from City, good to see.
