The midfield is pretty decent in my opinion, but the chance creation for the quality we have at our disposal was absolutely shocking today.

We really need to start creating more chances, being more incisive and just simply taking more shots at goal.

Defence needs massive work as well.
In other words nothing much has changed. You can also add some real competition for hart who seems to think he's untouchable.
Because he is.....since he's one of the best in the world, and certainly in the league

Whilst it was a friendly the season kicks off now no more preparation always nice to end on a win
There's a full week of training left as preparation. The last week is usually the most intense stage of pre-season. Lots of preparation time within that.

Only problem is everyone pretty much jets off for international duty now, training won't resume until Thursday.

Good job we play Monday, playing on Saturday would not invite confidence in me.

Aw, does everyone remember August 2011? And do you remember how terrible we were at Wembley in the Community Shield? Aw, that was such a fun time, wasn't it? When we all thought Tom Cleverley was a fantastic midfielder and that David De Gea was a terrible goalkeeper? Do you remember that time? Aw, wasn't it wonderful.

And then do you remember when we went 15 games unbeaten at the start of the season? And how we won the league. Do you remember that, guys? Aw, that was a time I wish I could return to.

To be fair it's not just 1 game we've been poor defensivly. If this was the only shocking defensive effort then I'd be with you. But we've been poor at the back in too many games so far.

Having had the best defnce in the prem last season there is some work to be done.
Barry may be the slowest on the pitch now but FFS his brain is one of the fastest.
City would do well to keep him for many prem. Matches
Left side of defence is a worry .For me Lescott is not working well and Boyata would be better until Nasty is back.
Get Willian too we will need another tricky player cos a lot of prem teams will park the bus against us and it'll be hard to open teams up despite Navas ' s speed down the line.
AGuero is crucial for a good start too

And what did that win us again?

Defending was terrible in the second half - didn't see the first.

Hart should have been able to stop ramsey's goal. Also i think Giroud could be great for Arsenal this season.

Disappointing obviously.

But actually, a VERY useful game.

Pellegrini will have learned that he cannot play such a high line with our current defenders. You need players who are positionally aware and alert at all times if you want to play that way and we only have 1 defender who can do this.

I am not remotely worried about our wastefulness up front. With full match sharpness, Negredo is going to score loads this season. And we have Aguero to come back.

We just need to sort the defence out, which Pellegrini now will do.

I believe it was sweet fuck all Mr Dicky

Bossed the game for the most part but still lacking clear scoring chances and still missing half chances like last season.

Arsenal score from their only 3 chances, all 1v1 and on the break, nothing Hart could really do for any of them. It was a bit worrying how long balls over the top seemed to be so effective against us. Maybe we are still getting used to what seems to be a higher defensive line?

We seemed to be fairly predictable in our approach play, for most of the first half we seemed to tunnel vision down the right wing with no outlet on the left. The second half was an improvement as we worked both wings but Nasri was completely ineffective and didn't go past his man once (Clichy providing little overlapping play also).

Dzeko seemed a little lacklustre, didn't seem to do much when he was on and probably should have put his chance away. Don't think we should partner him with Negredo. Negredo's touch was a little of today but he put in good effort throughout and had some decent movement, pairing him with Aguero / Jovetic would be my prefered choice up top.

Also that ref was a right prick, giving us nothing and Arsenal everything.

Disappointed, their finishing/creating was miles better than ours. We couldn't get the ball of them half the time and were wasteful in possession when we had it. Never mind, we have four weeks against relatively poor sides to sort it before the Scum game, they'll be like Arsenal today, settled and known to each other and if we play like that they'll kill us off early.

If we defended anywhere near like we did today those sides will give us a good test then.
