City v Arsenal friendly post match thread

Ok there are frustrations to be sure, however it's just a friendly and as long as we learn from the mistakes of today I'm sure there will be improvement.

Constructive criticism from how I saw the game.

Same old same old for me with Hart thinking he is better than he actually is and I think he was poor for all three goals. Having said that it's a worry that no-one is prepared to do the Barry donkey work and protect that left side. Our left back, left sided centre half and left side midfield need to sort out that defense splitting pass with the midfield runner getting in behind.

It never happens on the other side where Milner/Kompany/Zabba are more clued in.

Our crossing is still piss poor. How many times did we get into great positions behind Arsenal only for the final ball to be awful.

Dzeko even with this new lease of life still looks a very poor player who can't even do the basics ie control a ball and make a pass and move.

We still rely upon David Silva as our main attacking force through the middle.

Nasri still looks crap and uninterested.

Positives

Great to see Negredo graft till the end and he deserved his goal.

We did play some great stuff and looked comfortable in possession and got into great positions only to be let down by the final ball.

Overall it's a pre season game but I'm glad preseason is now over and it all starts for real next week.

I hope we buy someone to replace Barry with a like for like replacement, if that replacement is Fernandinho then we are going to ship a load of goals this season for sure. A left Center half who is more switched on than lescot who at times today just looked gormless!!

Must admit 2 seasons ago I thought Hart was the best in the world, in his current form he's not even one of the best in the world.

Aw, does everyone remember August 2011? And do you remember how terrible we were at Wembley in the Community Shield? Aw, that was such a fun time, wasn't it? When we all thought Tom Cleverley was a fantastic midfielder and that David De Gea was a terrible goalkeeper? Do you remember that time? Aw, wasn't it wonderful.

And then do you remember when we went 15 games unbeaten at the start of the season? And how we won the league. Do you remember that, guys? Aw, that was a time I wish I could return to.
Was going to say the same.

And last season on this weekend we won at a canter then lost the league.

Just in case you are not following

1. It was a pre-season friendly
2. We were the better side
3. It was a pre-season friendly
4. Some missed opportunities in front of goal
5. It was a pre-season friendly
6. A couple of lapses in defence
7. It was a pre-season friendly
8. A few misplaced passes in midfield
9. It was a pre-season friendly

City are building towards next week the intensity will be up by 50% then we will see
The word "friendly" should be dropped. They're pre-season training games.

Well we haven't eight days to sort it out because the team will be playing friendlies so the majority won't be back till thursday and the spanish lads and Yaya probably not till friday. They meet up with their international teams 48 hours before so the only practice time left to get it sorted will be friday Sat and Sunday unless they get the day off.

In other words nothing much has changed. You can also add some real competition for hart who seems to think he's untouchable.
Because he is.....since he's one of the best in the world, and certainly in the league

Joe Hart is a decent GK but is not one the best in the world.
Yeah, coz is easy winning the golden glove year after year after year

If he saved every shot this year he'd still be put down on here.

Can you honestly think of one team in the league who wouldn't swap for him in a hart beat (see what I did there, I'm dead good a punditry) ((see did it again))

Must be the only person, taking more positives than negatives out of that?

Fernandinho was easily the best player on the park today and didn't even look like he was trying half the time. We've got some partnership in Yaya and Fernandinho waiting once they truly develop a partnership. Also pleased to see Yaya actually look a bit more interested in defending and following men still needs to improve on that though.

Was very happy with the movement to make space for each other when approaching the final third, it won't be as easy as "stop Silva from getting it and they're clueless" this season. And it's clear we won't be afraid to use the width when teams pack the centre and offer the wings on a plate for us.

Silva looked fit finally he'll love the chance to play more centrally this season. Navas today showing he's not as predictable as you might think and is capable of playing a silva-esque ball, can see the partnership he has with Negredo so looking forward to when he develops that understanding with the rest.

No hiding the fact the defence does look a bit dodgy at the minute but it takes time to get your defensive unit sorted, especially when we're changing 3/4 of the defenders each half, i expect big improvements quickly but i'd still like to see another centre half come in. We're going to be more risky this season so you've got to expect a few more goals conceded but definite improvements are needed.

Similarly upfront it's just the killer ball we're lacking at the moment which again will come with players getting used to each other, Little bit worried Jovetic will take a while to adapt we've seen how idiots on here jump on anybody at the slightest chance.
