City v Arsenal post match discussion

"We were really poor" in that we failed to finish Arsenal off in a 2nd half where we totally dominated the game. Frustrating to draw a game we should have won.

Arsenal are a good team, but no more than that. Their forward line is poor.

Those rags trying to take something more from this game should give up.

A sound appraisal.

We really do need to start taking our chances when on top in games.

Except that it fails to mention that Arsenal were much the better team in the first half and despite Arsenal being "a good team, but no more than that" they were well worthy of a draw away at the champions of England.

Anyone who has watched all our games this season would say we look poor. At the moment we are giving away far to many chances - gervinho could easily have had 3. The quality of our passing is nowhere near last seasons level we are giving the ball away far to easily. Silva still hasn't found last seasons early form and this means we are creating less as we failed to sign the one player we really needed ( a quality winger) to give us a plan B.

Joe really needs to stay behind and practise kicking he hasn't improved that part of his game in two years.

I think mancini needs to have the balls to decide on his back two CD positions and stick with them all this swapping about is making us look like we will concede every game

Agree with above comments but also we are lucky in the fact that their forward gervinho could not hit a barn door yesterday. He had numerous chances but missed them all.

we did not play well until after the break but it is frustrating at the minute cos we know what our team is capable of producing and it isn't

Thought we were crap. Yes it isn't the worst result in the world and they're a good team but it was the performance that was most disappointing. Slow, lethargic, second to most things and riding our luck again. Need to seriously pull our fingers out. Not good enough

The removal of Dzeko for Tevez was disastrous. The ball was no longer sticking up top but was instead coming straight back at us, and we dropped deeper as a result, inviting pressure. Tevez should have replaced Sergio, who was tiring, or Silva, who had a poor game.
Roberto got the first substitution right but the second one wrong, decisively so.

Just watched it again the one thing that appears obvious over the past few games is that the midfield looks too congested. Nowhere to pass the killer ball because they are all tightly packed into a confined space. Javi Garcia and Yaya were getting in each other's way. This is beacuse Yaya may not feel comfortable leaving Garcia and Rodders to mop up in front of the back four.

"I think RM should revert to the tried and trusted 4, 2, 3,1 formation free David Silva to do his stuff just my opinion folks"!!

Indeed. Some of his decisions are baffling at times and this was one of them.

Dzeko didnt do much first half as he had no service but 2nd half for 20 minutes he was the best player on the pitch. What message does it send to players when however well they are playing they still get hooked. Dzeko looked very unhappy with the decision and I dont blame him.

I didn't think we were "poor" as some seem to be saying, but I wasn't overly impressed by Arsenal either, and in my opinion we should have beaten them.

First half for 35 minutes we conceded way too much possession, not for the first time this season, but for all their tippy tappy football in that period we had the better chances, and looked more direct. I wasn't surprised when we went in front.

Second half for 25 minutes we completely dominated possession, and pushed Arsenal back to the edge of their own box, in this period we should have scored at least twice but didn't. Once we lost Dzeko, who I thought was our best player, the game got stretched too far, and we struggled to keep possession again, and looked very vulnerable to their break aways. The only surprise when they scored was that it came from a corner, and not a break away.

Overall we were OK, but work needs doing on our defensive play. Garcia looks well off the pace at the moment, and both fullbacks yesterday were below par.

Hart 6, 1 good save but his distribution was awful
Zab 5, one the poorer games he's had for us
Lescott 7, good header for the goal, and probably our best defender
Kompany 6, better than at RM, but still off form
Clichy 5, his worst game so far for us for me
Garcia 5, hope he finds his feet soon
Yaya 8, a good game, though his shooting boots were on the wrong foot
Sinclair 7, not sure what he did wrong really, give the lad some time
Silva 6, not up to his normal standards, his passing was pretty woeful
Dzeko 8, held the ball up well, worked hard, needs a goal a game though to say in the side
Aguero 7, don't think he's fully fit yet, worked hard though, and with a bit of luck would have scored

Rodwell 5, I'm not sure where he was meant to be playing, don't think he knew either
Tevez 6, ran about a lot, to little avail
Balo, not on long enough, but did nothing of note

I thought mancini got the subs wrong, Tevez should have replaced Aguero or Silva, Balo should have been given longer, no idea why Sincalir was taken off really.
