City v Arsenal post match thread

completely agree with you..plenty have been proclaiming th new signings etc are the key when in reality we may not see the benefit of it for a season or two

A season or two? How many seasons do u want to piss away? Hes only here for three you know!

It's weird how anybody would think people are basing their opinions on Hart because of a poor euros. I doubt one single person who thinks his place is under threat does so because of what he's done on an England shirt.

From what I've read on here, his euro form has definitely become a factor in him being doubted to being city's number one.

I completely agree but virtually none of our signings baring Gudongan re going to have an immediate impact

zinchenko Jesus
Moreno Sane - all 4 could take a while to settle and all are young.

If we get stones then he will be an immediate improvement

Nolito is neither here nor there for me -average and will be a squad player.

I too think we should have been trying to make an immediate impact but it looks like from our transfer business at present that isn't the plan (which is a mistake in my mind)

Hugely encouraging signs-yes lots to work on and Stones needed-but pressing was very impressive until a disjointed second half. Tactically fascinating how the fullbacks tuck in as deep midfielders when the central defenders have the ball-never seen an English team do that. When this clicks we will overwhelm many many teams.

Vinny apart we haven't got another defender who's comfortable with playing out from the back, stones seems to be so he will help if & when we get him, but you cant change a back four overnight just to accomadate peps style of playing, our defence tonight will be nowhere near our starting one, but if it is their may be trouble ahead!!

You think you're just as knowledgable as a guy who does 12 hours a day studying football and has done as a manager for nearly a decade. A decade unsurpassed in trophy count because if that preparation.
I didn't say I was.
Show me the post where I said that - it doesn't exist.
I said it's dangerous to simply say 'oh well, he's Pep, he MUST know better than anybody else'. Guardiola's knowledge isn't the sole reason for the success. Being at the right clubs with the right talent played a huge part. He didn't carry that success over quite so well with Bayern. And Mourinho plummeted with Chelsea last season - why is that? - because there's a hell of a lot more to it than the manager.

Not every fan is an imbecile and plenty read the game very well. There are countless instances where some 'top managers' get into such a stubborn and predictable streak the fans can see what's wrong more than the manager can (Wenger is a prime example). The manager doesn't always know best.

It's not having the 'best' manager in the world that's going to bring success, it's having a damn good manager, with damn good players with a damn good attitude and damn good finances to pay for it all, and a little bit of luck along the way too. Get any of those wrong, and the chances of success are far slimmer.

Great post, couldn't agree more.

Did you think Angelino looked more comfotable doing that than any of the others ?

I thought he was way ahead, & it's not surprising, as Vieira had him doing that two yeas ago.

The best keeper in the prem over the last 4 seasons. Would be crazy to let go a top homegrown player who loves the club. Ok hes not exactly zidane with the ball at his feet but we should adapt our tactics slightly to suit

Well that would be stupid. The very real need for him to improve parts of his game is the reason his place is under threat. His need to evolve from being a traditional goalkeeper (which he's very good at) into somebody comfortable with the ball at his feet is something he's going to have to improve. I doubt anybody who's seen the way we are trying to play will disagree with that - even his most ardent supporters.

You think we should adapt our tactics just to suit Joe? Have I read that right?
